Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX55 review

Is 8MP and a 3-inch LCD enough to excite?

Logical, easy-to-use menus ; Well built ; Great value

Poor quality at higher ISOs

There's a lot to like about the FX55. The lens is superb and the zoom range is more than enough for most. Picture quality in low light is not great but the excellent intelligent Auto mode makes up for it. A great camera for the casual or novice...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX55 8.1Mp compact camera

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX55 compact camera has a superb 3in LCD, but the screen saps battery life, and images weren't as sharp as those of the Panasonic FX100.

The Panasonic DMC-FX55 has much to like: It's easy to use and well put together. For the price, though, we'd like a little better image quality.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX55

This model has identical specifications to the FX33 model, except for the addition of a higher resolution 3in LCD

Large LCD/wideangle lens combination, Style

Fiddly joystick, Purple banding on LCD screen

A little expensive, and noise is still an issue despite otherwise pleasing images.

Panasonic DMC FX55

The Panasonic DMC FX55 is an 8 megapixel digital camera with a 3.6x wide angle zoom lens. One of the strong points of the camera is its ease of use. Although it has a few extra features compared to a standard point and shoot camera you should still...

Settings for 6 x 4 prints and panoramic shots - image stabilisation - LCD screen display - ease of use

Struggled with lower light shots - noise creeps in

"Easy to use, takes a decent picture and slips into a pocket. This camera also has a wide angle lens and a few extra features when compared to other simpler, point and shoot digital cameras. Well worth a look."

Panasonic Lumix FX55

The specs on paper are a little weak so can the 8 mega pixel sensor live up to much?

A great camera but when you compare it to what a 12 megapixel camera can do for the same money it looks a bit lame.

Recent ePHOTOzine research shows that manufacturers are starting to stray away from huge resolutions and concentrating on other areas like wide lenses, image stabilisers and ease of use. With a standard 8Mp resolution, wide 28mm lens and Intelligent...

Good quality build; 28mm wide angle lens; Good noise results; Bright screen

Zoom is steady, but too slow

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX55

Panasonic churns out compact cameras like sausages from a sausage factory. At the end of this string of products (14 so far this year) comes the FX55, which comes with a very creditable 8MP sensor, a 28mm wide-angle lens, face-detection technology and...
