Panasonic GX9

A small camera that can shoot good-quality stills. Panasonic GX9.

Compact design is more portable than SLR-styled competitors ; In-body stabilisation gives sharper results with every lens ; Quiet shutter allows discreet shooting ; Excellent Bluetooth and Wi-Fi smartphone connectivity

Default control setup is awkward for viewfinder shooting ; 16:9 viewfinder is a poor match to sensor ; Control dials are under-utilised

If you want a small camera that can shoot good-quality stills and 4K video alike, then the GX9 is well worth a look. But for stills photographers, there are other cameras at a similar price point that deserve consideration, such as the Olympus OM-D...

Panasonic Lumix G9

Panasonic's best stills camera to date. Panasonic Lumix G9.

Superb design and handling ; Excellent 4K & 6K photo modes ; Well supported by Micro Four Thirds lenses ; Offers high-resolution 40MP & 80MP modes

Positioning of AF toggle could be better ; Lacks battery level indication as percentage ; Burst shot mode descriptions aren’t clear ; No in-camera panoramic mode

Panasonic’s best stills camera to date. The Lumix G9 is a sound mirrorless camera boasting a speedy specification, which it backs up with an admirable performance out in the field.

Panasonic Lumix GX9 review

This compact system cam is angling for a spot in your holiday luggage...

Small, sleek styling ; Handy tilting monitor and viewfinder ; 4K video

Small sensor ; Loss of detail in low light ; Screen doesn’t face forwards

A cracking little camera for travel and street photography, as long as you don't mostly shoot in low light

Panasonic Lumix GX9 review

A mirrorless camera with rangefinder styling

Compact design ; 4K video and 4K Photo modes ; Hybrid stabilization system ; Responsive touchscreen ; Built-in flash ; Fast focusing speeds in Single AF

AF selection fiddly ; Awkward rear control dial ; 16:9 aspect ratio viewfinder ; Body isn't weather-sealed

In many ways the Lumix GX9 takes two steps forward over the GX8, but one step (maybe half a step) back. While there's perhaps a little too much reliance on the touchscreen interface for some, especially when selecting your desired AF area, the GX9 is a...

Panasonic Lumix GX9 Review

Take a look at our full review of the Panasonic Lumix GX9 - Panasonic's latest CSC camera.

The Panasonic Lumix GX9 updates the GX8 , with a more compact camera body, a tilting screen, and smaller electronic viewfinder (EVF), which is most likely unavoidable due to the smaller body size. The 3inch tilting touch-screen has a good resolution of...

Panasonic Lumix G9 review

Great build quality ; Intelligent control layout ; 80MP high-resolution mode ; 5-axis in-body stabilization ; 6K photo and 4K video

Burst rate has odd limitations ; Smaller sensor than similarly sized/priced competitors

Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9 review

Panasonic's Lumix DC-GX9 is a 20MP rangefinder-style mirrorless camera that aims to do a bit of everything. It borrows features from both the GX8 and the smaller GX80 / GX85, but does it strike the right balance?

Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9

Panasonic's Lumix DC-GX9 camera is smaller and less expensive than the GX8 that came before it.

Small body with tilting EVF. 20MP Micro Four Thirds sensor. In-body stabilization. Tilting touch LCD. Pop-up flash. 4K video.

No body-only purchase option. Drops GX8's vari-angle LCD.

The Panasonic Lumix GX9 is another compact Micro Four Thirds from Panasonic. The company has announced several new models over the past few months, including the GH5S and G9 at the higher end of the market.

Panasonic Lumix GX9 mirrorless gives the tilting viewfinder a whirl

The company's latest mirrorless camera is smaller and lighter than its predecessor with the tilting viewfinder of a sibling series. But it's lost something.
