Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18

With a huge 28-504mm 18x zoom and optical image stabilisation, Panasonic's new flagship is hard to fault

The Lumix FZ18 is a very nearly the ultimate super-zoom camera, with good performance and handling, an excellent range of features and a simply astonishing lens, made usable by an equally superb image stabilisation system. However it falls just short...

Panasonic DMC-FZ18 digital camera

When I first prized the FZ18 from its box, two things, the small size, and the rather uninspiring plastic build struck me. Even turning the thing on, which is a fleet affair, takes less than a second and the enormous zoom range on offer does not make...

Compact size, amazing optical zoom, good image quality, usable EVF and handling

Image noise at higher ISOs, build lets it down

Compact, easy to use, and stuffed full of great features and whopping lens, the FX18 is a very good and very clever camera indeed.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 review

The only real disappointment is the large amount of noise at high ISO, but that's a small price to pay for such an amazingly versatile camera.

Huge zoom range and great performance make this a winner

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 review

Has Panasonic's super-zoom range finally come of age?

Excellent telephoto lens ; Good all-round image quality

Not the fastest

This Panasonic is as much about quality as it is raw power. Images from the 8MP chip are simply superb, making this a safe choice for anyone looking for a competent, all-in-one back-up

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 review

An inexpensive high-end compact camera/DSLR crossover, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18K offers an 18x optical zoom, a 28mm wide-angle lens, and a host of manual controls for a very reasonable price.

All in all, the Lumix DMC FZ-18K does come through for the price, especially if high optical zoom, a great lens, and a beginners' course on manual settings is what you're looking for.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 is the update to the popular FZ8 super-zoom, featuring a wider and 18x optical Leica-branded zoom with image stabiliser and an 8.1-megapixel resolution sensor.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 product review - taster

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 with its 18x zoom lens has one of the widest focal-length ranges we have seen on a bridge camera. But can the 1/2.5in sensor that makes the huge focal-length range possible cope with more than eight million pixels?
