Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28

It's not easy to improve a camera as good as the FZ18, but Panasonic has managed it.

Good range of manual controls ; Fast start-up ; Quality lens

Video output is only in 1080i ; Clunky software included ; Expensive

On paper it looks like the FZ28 is only an incremental upgrade on the FZ18, but an objective analysis can't convey the overall feel of the camera. Despite the obvious similarities, all the little changes add up to a camera that feels a significantly...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 digital camera

This new 10.1-megapixel and 18x bezoomed FZ28 ultra-zoom replaces its predecessor, the similarly designed FZ18, an 8.1-megapixel camera also with an 18x optical zoom lens, one of the best ultra-zooms available at the time of launch over a year ago. And...

Good low ISO image quality, lens, features, iA (intelligent Auto), HD movies, handling

High ISO image noise, plastic build

And so, overall, what have we got in the FZ28? Well, despite slight barrel distortion, the good 27mm wide end to the massive zoom lens and good detail capture means landscapes are a cinch. The focal range, the F2.8 fastest aperture and Face AF allow...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28's predecessor (the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18) was already a good camera, though not without a few flaws: it couldn't zoom in video mode, and it had disappointing battery life.

Given the price, the Leica lens, the telephoto reach, the wide angle, and the camera's ability to shoot RAW, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 review is a solid high-zoom point-and-shoot.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 review

The FZ28 was the lightest camera on test except for Kodak's Z8612 IS.

Big shot. Top image quality and high performance too - the ideal superzoom.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 camera

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 has features that give it a jump on many of its competitors in the advanced point-and-shoot and megazoom categories.

Given the price, the Leica lens, the telephoto reach, the wide angle, and the camera's ability to shoot RAW, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 review is a solid high-zoom point-and-shoot.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28

Ultra-zoom digicams such as Panasonic's FZ28 abound, but is the new model streets ahead of the rest?

A superb, easy-to-use and well-specified camera able to produce stunning shots; overall, a good balance between features, control and image quality

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28

Panasonic have released the FZ28 to replace the FZ18 although to look at it, you'd think they'd re-released the same camera.

Leica lens; 1cm macro; Good colour; 27mm wide angle lens; No fringing on contrast areas

Panasonic DMC FZ28 review

Why Buy the Panasonic DMC FZ28? The Panasonic DMC FZ28 is a good buy if you take photos where you cannot get in close to the action, such as sports or wildlife. The manual controls give you more control over the way your final photos will look. The...

Panasonic DMC FZ28

The Panasonic DMC FZ28 is a digital camera with a very long lens. The DMC FX28 gives you 18x zoom. This makes the camera of interest if you take shots of sports or wildlife. This is a 10 megapixel model. It has a variety of manual controls. Picture...

Picture quality - advanced features - HD movie mode - length of zoom

Wide angle shot could be sharper

This is one of the best super zoom cameras. Picture quality is very good and you can get in close with the 18x zoom lens. The DSC FZ28 has an impressive set of features. If you are looking for a super zoom camera add this one to your list.
