Pentax K20D Hands On Preview

The brand new model from Pentax

Pentax (and Samsung) has produced a solid mid range camera with many features that match its rivals. On top of that the densely populated, class beating CMOS sensor is sure to prove popular and give the K20D an edge of its rivals. The camera is fun...

Pentax K20D review

The Samsung GX-20's twin rolls into the SLR saloon, but is Cameratown big enough for the both of them?

Excellent performance and features, but at a price that’s too high

Pentax K20D review

Pentax is the first manufacturer to break the 12MP barrier in a DX sensor

Great pictures ; Clever features ; Nice to handle

Dodgy controls ; Flawed lens

The K20D’s controls aren’t elegant or efficient, but the images seem more ‘natural’ and less ‘digital’ than its rivals. It has some clever and effective features like dynamic range extension and dust alert. Flawed but with sparks of sheer brilliance.

Pentax K20D review

Constructed from tough magnesium alloy in preference to the usual plastic, the body has been sealed against the intrusion of dust and water in 72 places. While the Pentax K20D is weighty at 715g without an 18-55mm zoom lens attached, the impression...

While nearly £900 is not cheap for a consumer-targeted camera, the Pentax K20D's build and performance go some way to justifying the price tag. Speaking of which, the K20D has a doppelganger in the recently introduced Samsung GX-20. Since the two...

Pentax K20 Review

The Pentax K20D not only boasts 14.6-megapixels, a first for a consumer DSLR with an APS-C sized imaging sensor, but it also has Live View and an amazing new burst mode. Julian Lass takes a close look

14.6-megapixels, build quality, weatherproof body, burst mode, ergonomics and handling

Uses SD cards, pained AF in Live View, no DOF preview option with Live View selected

Its solid, robust and pro-spec design will win many fans while its ease of use and intuitive handling show there are lots of clever people behind the scenes at Pentax

Pentax K20D review

Pentax's profile deserves a boost if the new ‘armour-plated' 14.6 megapixel Pentax K20D DSLR is anything to go by.

Pentax K20D

If there's one brand that seems to instinctively cater for both the enthusiast and student it's Pentax, so it comes as little surprise to see the company upgrade its popular top-of-the-range 10-megapixel K10D. Although the headline feature is the...

In all, this is an impressive upgrade to the original. It may be lacking in certain areas, such as direct access to some everyday features, but the K20D has all the hallmarks of a reliable, semi-pro workhorse that can be easily recommended
