Ricoh CX4 review

Is the CX4 an expensive point and shoot, or does it offer something extra?

Sleek design ; 10x optical zoom ; Fun filters

Lack of manual controls

The Ricoh CX4 was released only a few months after its predecessor, the CX3. With many serious competitors in the high-end compact market, have Ricoh updated the camera enough to warrant shelling out more money for the latest version?

Ricoh CX4

Long before Panasonic ever incorporated a larger than standard-at-the-time 3x optical zoom into one of its pocket compacts, Ricoh was doing it to critical plaudits but less mainstream fanfare. The CX4, a fast off the blocks upgrade to the CX3,...

Solid feel construction, broad 28-300mm equivalent focal range (10.7x optical zoom), fairly priced, extremely high resolution LCD for this class of camera

Drab design, the CX4's zoom mechanics are noisy in operation and the facility is disabled in video mode, lack of decent handgrip

The lens reach and monitor resolution may mark the CX4 out as a more serious proposition for the photo enthusiast than your average snapshot camera, but in fact this Ricoh is a pretty much auto everything point and shoot model none the less.

Ricoh CX4 review

A minor update over the CX3, but the lower price makes this a serious contender for the compact ultra-zoom crown.

Ricoh CX4 review

Ricoh trickles in improvements to the CX series, and the biggest enhancement to the CX4 is the improved image stabilisation. It adds only minor refinements to what was an already solid CX3. In its own right, the CX4 is likely to please those looking for...

Ricoh CX4 Compact Digital Camera Review

Looking compact, discreet and not that much different from its CX3 predecessor the Ricoh CX4 is one of Ricoh's latest offerings in their point-and-shoot compact camera range and from the outside it doesn't look like anything special – Ricoh themselves...

Ricoh CX4 Digital Camera : Ricoh CX4

It hardly seems like yesterday when I took a look at the Ricoh CX3 compact digital camera. Actually it was more like four months ago but that hardly gives the company enough time to develop and manufacture a new model. Yet here we are with the latest...

As with the CX3 I was generally impressed with the quality of images, whether still or video, captured by this camera. While bulkier than some compact digital camera, this model is comfortable to use and feels reassuring sturdy. Again the lack of a...

Ricoh CX4 review

The CX4 is the latest advanced compact in the CX range from Ricoh. It has an eye-catching specification, but does it offer enough to compete with the big guns?

Design, impressive LCD screen, excellent image quality

No Raw capture, no manual control, soft midtones

Lets look at the camera in more detail

The back of the camera features the excellent 3″ screen with 920k pixels, it looks great, and has an excellent and easy to use menu, and the buttons are now slightly larger

Review: Ricoh CX4 Digital Camera – for the casual photographer who wants a bit extra.

I am in no way a photographic prodigy. I can just about point and click successfully. So I jumped at the chance to test out Ricoh's CX4 Digital Camera, as it's pitched at just my level. It has auto pretty much everything as well as some cool features...
