Ricoh R10

The latest in Ricoh's long-running series of zoom compacts features a 10MP sensor, 7.1x zoom and 28mm wide angle.

Ricoh R10 review

It's only been eight months since the last R-series update so we wonder if it's been time well spent?

Good dynamic range ; Great macro feature ; Reliable flash

Not good at high ISO ; Some Image graining ; Poor face detection

While the R10 may offer Ricoh little to shout to the uninitiated public about, it's a very positive step towards a highly usable, reliable compact. No matter how likeable the camera is, though, when it comes to image quality it's still chasing its...

Ricoh R10 review

The Ricoh R10 also has a 28mm wideangle lens and, as with other Ricoh models, there's a good-sized grip area so you can confidently take steady shots one-handed. Optical image stabilisation and the ability to lock on to faces once it's recognised them...

The Ricoh R10 is, indeed, something of a photographer's camera. With the R10 you feel as though you're getting a 'proper' camera, with real buttons and over which you have real control over how each shot turns out.

The Ricoh R10 has a new design and bigger LCD than the R7, but little else that excites. The Ricoh R10 review tests this camera...

Ricoh R10 review

Like its predecessors the Ricoh R8 (read our review here) and R7, the Ricoh R10 is a great piece of miniaturization that somehow puts a 7x zoom lens on the front of a pocket-sized camera. However, also like the older models, it often captures images...

Big lens on a small body

Produces very noisy images; poor stabilization at long zoom; not much better than the R8

Ricoh R10 review

Ricoh isn't known for building sleek cameras but despite the Ricoh R10's relative bulk, it has only a 2.5in display. However, Ricoh has given the R10 a 7.1x optical zoom, which we found far more critical to taking shots.

The Ricoh R10 is, indeed, something of a photographer's camera. With the R10 you feel as though you're getting a 'proper' camera, with real buttons and over which you have real control over how each shot turns out.

Ricoh - R10

Back in Summer 2008 IT Reviews took a look at the Ricoh R8. This camera, from a long serving manufacturer, managed to impress us with some intuitive features, but we were put off slightly by its ...

The R10 is a reliable and responsive camera that's easy to control and would be a perfect choice for those who want an easy life. The Ricoh R10 is not going to win any style awards, although it has a certain retro charm about it. Features like an...

Ricoh R10 Compact Digital Camera

A flexible compact digital camera with a 10M pixel sensor and some impressive features, all at a reasonable price. The R10 is aimed at the amature photographerthat wants to go beyond point and click photography.

Measuring 100 x 60 x 27mm (WxHxD) and weighing around 200g, including battery the R10 feels very solid and is large enough to sit comfortably in the hand. Internal storage is very limited and generally you'll want to insert a separate SD card....

Ricoh R10

It's been five months since I saw the last R series model from Ricoh and I'll be interested to see if the notorious noise problems have been addressed.

Good zoom; Vintage design; Nice macro; Adjustable AF and metering points

Colours are muted
