Sony NEX-3N pictures and hands-on - Pocket-lint

Sony's refreshed its entry level NEX camera, updating the NEX-F3 with the new - and smaller - NEX-3N model. And Pocket-lint was on hand to take a gander

Sony NEX-3N review

Sony has delivered a capable, pocketable camera with the convenience of a compact. While the Power Zoom control makes perfect sense when used with a compatible lens, only two such lenses exist. The lack of an accessory port also suggests that Sony is...

Sony NEX-3N Review

The Sony NEX-3N is the latest entry level mirrorless camera from Sony, and is the World's smallest APS-C sized sensor mirrorless camera, and is bundled with the 16-50mm OSS Power Zoom lens with an RRP of £399. The price it's available to buy is a very...

Sony NEX-3N review: superior shooting on the cheap

Sony's latest entry-level mirrorless camera is hard to beat.

Excellent performance and image quality ; Solid build and design ; Very affordable for a mirrorless kit ; 16-50mm power zoom lens in the box

No accessory port or mic input ; Power zoom is too choppy for video

Is this Sony's strongest NEX to date? No, it's not. But it's by far the most impressive entry-level Sony ILC we've seen, and one of the very best options for less than 600 bucks. Excellent image quality, a solid (but compact) build and Sony's new...

Sony Alpha NEX-3N

The Sony Alpha NEX-3N isn't as good a performer as its predecessor, but it does include a collapsible power zoom lens and comes at a lower price.

Attractive price. APS-C image sensor. Compact zoom lens. Excellent high ISO performance. 180° tilting LCD. Built-in flash.

Screen not as sharp as on previous NEX models. Kit lens isn't the best performer. No EVF or expansion options. Front-facing LCD eliminates downward tilt. No dedicated battery charger.

Wi-Fi is becoming more common on cameras, but it's still not standard issue across the board. If you want wireless within the NEX system you'll have to move up to the NEX-5R or NEX-6, or you can look at the Samsung NX1000, which also features an APS-C...
