Sony DSC-H5

Very good image quality.Excellent colour rendition.3-inch LCD high resolution monitor.Stabilized 12X optical zoom.High definition EVF.Complete set of capture modes.Powerful flash.Noise relatively low up to 200 ISO.

A bit of shadow noise at low ISO settings. No low compression setting or uncompressed format.A bit of distortion at the wide angle end.Consumes batteries faster than the H2 if the LCD monitor is used a lot.Very little space to hold the camera without...

Sony DSC H5

With seven megapixels, manual controls and a long 12x zoom lens the Sony DSC H5 is likely to appeal to someone who is interested in sports and wildlife photography. It also offers image stabilisation.

Sharp images ; Low shutter lag ; Picture quality ; Easy to use considering the features

Noise problems at ISO 400

"There is a lot to like about the Sony DSC H5. It takes a very good photo, offers a good selection of controls, a long zoom and image stabilisation. Considering the features it has it is still easy enough to use and it also has a fast shutter response."

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5

Big zoom, Nice colour balance, Sharp shots

Bulky, Unattractive design, Chromatic aberration issues

A solid advanced ultra-zoom from Sony that takes high quality pictures and offers a variety of advanced functions that should please.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5

Though it makes some stumbles Sony's new superzoom is designed well.

Sharp photos. Vibrant Color. Nicely designed body. Decent video clips.

Shutter lag. Mediocre menus. Flash is too powerful.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 Digital Camera - Black (7.2MP, 12x Opt, 32MB Internal Memory, Memory Stick Pro/ Memory Stick Pro Duo)

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 squeezes a 12X zoom lens into a body that's light and compact by advanced camera standards. It also brings Sony's line of superzoom digital cameras up-to-date by adding more megapixels, higher ISO settings, and a bigger LCD...

Large 3-inch LCD ; 12X zoom and image stabilization

Distortion in images

A large LCD, 12X zoom and anti-shake are attractive, though images lacked sharpness and distortion was noticeable.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 review

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H5 Sony's Cyber Shot DSC-H5 sits at the top of the company's current crop of megazoom cameras. Fittingly, it has all the specs you'd expect in a camera of its class, including a large, image-stabilized 12X optical zoom lens, a...

12X zoom; image stabilization; solid selection of accessories.

Large body; lots of noise at ISO 800 and above; no hotshoe.

Advanced amateurs who find dSLRs too bulky will like the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-H5's versatility but lament the noise at higher ISOs.
