Sony Cyber-shot HX200V

Sony's latest superzoom impresses in many ways, but lacks Raw capture.

Generous specification, Advanced proprietary features, Good building quality

Lacks Raw capture, Issues with noise reduction, Quite expensive

Sony Cyber-shot HX200V

Impressed by last year's HX100V model, the arrival of the latest HX200V left team ‘Lint excited about what new surprises this Sony superzoom would have in store. The HX200V takes Sony's already decent superzoom formula and further improves the recipe.

Manual zoom and focus ring, extensive zoom range, excellent image stabilisation, faster and more accurate autofocus than much of the competition, GPS

No raw file shooting, image quality ok but no better than standard compact

The HX200V takes Sony’s already decent superzoom formula and further improves the recipe.

Sony HX200V review

Sony's 18.2MP bridge camera offers a 30x optical zoom, Full HD movies and GPS

Broad focal range ; Solid build ; GPS and 3D capture ; Manual control options

Fiddly rear jog dial ; Some loss of focus ; Subtle barrel distortion ; Purple pixel fringing

The chunky yet compact flagship model in Sony's High Performance Cyber-Shot series, the new HX200V superzoom succeeds the HX100V, in the process boosting the headline resolution from 16.2 megapixels to 18.2 effective megapixels from an Exmor R CMOS...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V (Black) review

On the surface -- and even a little beneath it -- the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V is the same as its predecessor, the HX100V . It has the same 30x zoom lens, 3-inch ultrahigh-resolution tilting LCD, and controls and shooting options, including manual...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V is a fast-shooting megazoom with excellent photo and video quality for its class, and plenty of shooting options to make casual and advanced shooters happy.

The HX200V lacks advanced bridge camera features like raw image capture, a hot shoe, or mic input. Some of its shooting modes and general operation can get confusing if you want to do more than leave it in auto.

A lot of camera, both in lens and features, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V is a solid choice for point-and-shoot users looking to do a little more than that.

Sony Cybershot DSC-HX200V Digital Camera Review

Daniel Bell reviews the new Sony Cybershot DSC-HX200V, a digital camera with an SLR style, 30x optical zoom and 18.2 megapixel sensor.

Tilting screen; Electronic viewfinder; Image quality is good; Solid body; Excellent battery life; Decent noise performance up to ISO 3200; Good colour reproduction; Panoramas are free of stitching issues

No rubber thumb grip on rear

Sony CyberShot HX200V review

Will the Sony CyberShot HX200V offer more than the 30x optical zoom? The Sony CyberShot DSC-HX200 review follows...

Impressive specification, good design, large focal range

Premium price, heavy image processing, ill-thought-out menu system

There’s no escaping the fact that the HX200V is an impressive bridge camera. It not only features a full specification, but also a host of extra imaging technology sure to impress. However, there are a few gripes – first of all, the price tag is a fair...
