Sony RX10 II

The Sony RX10 II is a dream camera for many. It combines great general image quality with incredible video skills, super-rapid shooting speed and a lens that offers both a wide zoom range and constant max aperture of f/2.8 throughout.

Versatile, high-quality lens ; Good image quality ; Good manual control ; Excellent speed and slo-mo video skills

Expensive, especially against RX10 ; Limited display tilt usefulness

Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II review: One serious superzoom

The Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II is, just like its predecessor, a camera that's going to divide opinion. On paper its 24-200mm f/2.8 equivalent lens and 1-inch sensor combination sounds like the bees knees. Until, that is, you see the physical size of this...

Constant f/2.8 aperture and great lens quality, physical aperture ring control, weather-sealed pro-spec construction, fast autofocus and decent close-up ability, great tilt-angle LCD and built-in electronic viewfinder, ace slow-mo and 4K video capture

Limited upgrades compared to original model, no touchscreen controls, lens slow to travel through zoom, focus selector positioning not ideal, maximum focal length limitations, no pinpoint or more complex autofocus options, it’s really expensive

We've been living with the RX10 II in the real-world and keep questioning its suitability for a mass audience and its considerable price point acting as a barrier. Who would buy it?

Sony RX10 II review

Sony's cutting edge camera feels the need, the need for speed

Superb all-round image quality and handling ; Excellent lens ; HFR shooting opens up new possibilities ; 4K video

Expensive ; Shooting in HFR can be tricky

The best bridge camera ever? Quite possibly

Sony RX10 II review

Sony's high-end bridge camera gets a refresh

One-inch sensor ; f/2.8 constant aperture ; Excellent viewfinder

Screen not touch-sensitive ; Limited raw functionality ; High price

Like the RX10, the RX10 II is a tempting option for photographers on the move who value image quality above a huge zoom range. It's expensive compared to the competition, but it's a serious alternative to a DSLR and a few lenses.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 II review

  (Rating Hidden)

Like the original model it replaces, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 II is a superzoom camera with strong build quality and fast shutter speed. The video system has been upgraded significantly, but is that enough to justify its expensive price? We tested...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 II

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 II premium superzoom offers serious video upgrades, but it's priced a bit higher than it should be.

Sharp f/2.8 zoom lens. 1-inch image sensor. Very fast autofocus. 12.5fps burst shooting. Tilting rear display. Excellent EVF. Solid control layout. Wi-Fi and NFC. High-def slow-motion mode. 4K recording.

Autofocus inconsistent in HFR mode. Shorter zoom range than others in this class. External battery charger not included. Pricey.

Conclusions I was extremely pleased with the original version of the RX10 thanks to its balance of size, image quality, zoom range, and its excellent close focus capability. When it first went on sale it sold for as much as the RX10 II—the RX10's price...

RX aeternus? Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 II review

The Sony RX10 II is the follow-up to a camera we already thought quite highly of. While the 24-200mm F2.8 equivalent lens and external body design remain unchanged, the RX10 II sports a new stacked sensor and can record 4k video internally, with full...

Bridge cameras have always been interesting beasts; generally able to do it all, just not always particularly well. But with the launch of the original Cyber-shot RX10 and Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FZ1000 in 2014, this category of cameras morphed into...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX10 II review

The Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II is the follow-up to the original RX10 bridge camera and shares the same magnesium alloy, twin-dial body design and fast, sharp 24-200mm F2.8 equiv. lens.
