Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150

A competent compact

Sharp pictures, 5x optical zoom with stabilisation, smile shutter is kind of nifty

Slow interface, sluggish shot-to-shot time, purple fringing and haloing issues

Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-W150 is a fairly decent compact cameras with a few niggling issues. Aside from some purple fringing it captures good shots. The interface and shot taking can be extremely slow at times, which is frustrating.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 review

With its attractive specifications and fun feature set wrapped up in attractive black , red , silver , or gold brushed-metal body, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 looks good on paper. However, the W150 fails to live up to its potential, mostly because of...

Nice design; a lot of shooting and playback options; effective optical image stabilization; 28mm wide-angle lens with 5x zoom.

So-so photo quality.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 ranks above average on looks and features, but it doesn't quite match up on photo quality.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150

Available in black, red or silver, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 offers 5x optical zoom, face detection and optical image stabilisation amongst its feature set.

Excellent quality images at a wide range of sensitivities. Optical image stabilisation corrects some hand-holding issues. Large, bright LCD screen.

Time to buy some Memory Sticks!. Small buttons can make navigation difficult.

Yet another salvo in the megapixel war, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 compact digital camera can't boast a revolutionary feature-set, but it can pride itself on producing vibrant, quality photos and of course, more megapixels.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W150

The Sony Cybershot DSC-W150 is a mid-range point-and-shoot digital camera that embodies the spirit of middle range point-and-shoot cameras. While the camera technically falls under the category of ?ultra compact,? the DSC-W150 is a little bulkier than...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 Review

Alright, with that out of the way, we can begin our review of the Cyber-shot DSC-W150

Very good photo quality; ISO 800 still usable ; 5X optical zoom lens with nice 30 - 150 mm range ; Optical image stabilization ; Compact metal body comes in four colors ; Large and sharp 2.7" LCD display; good outdoor and low light visibility ; Optical...

Noise reduction smudges fine details, even at ISO 80 (though it's not too bad) ; Redeye a big problem (but at least you can fix it) ; Lens is on the slow side ; Clunky user interface ; No manual controls ; 10 minute movie clip limit ; Flimsy plastic...

If you want a compact camera with a semi-wide-angle 5X zoom lens, image stabilization, and fun point-and-shoot features, then it's worth checking out the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150. If you desire manual controls, shoot under unusual lighting conditions,...

Sony Cybershot DSC-W150 Review

The Sony Cybershot DSC-W150 is an attractive little camera with a $249 suggested retail price tag. It captures high-quality photographs in a variety of lighting conditions. I took it with me on a business trip to Miami and also used it to photograph...

Small and lightweight - perfect for carrying in a pocket or purse., Super SteadyShot image stabilization., Excellent image quality in a variety of conditions., 8.1 megapixels for prints to 16×20 inches., 5x optical zoom (30-150mm equivalent)., Large,...

Menu settings and mode dial less than intuitive., No manual shutter or aperture control., ISO can only be changed in Program Auto mode., Only a handful of exposure modes., Tiny optical viewfinder does not show full scene.

I have mixed feelings about the Sony Cybershot DSC-W150. While it was far from love at first use, I find I'm a little sad to have to send my review copy back. I really like how easily the W150 fits into my purse and the excellent image quality it produces
