Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W30 Digital Camera Review

Sony has combined sleek styling with up-to-date technology in the Sony Cyber-shot W30. With 6 effective Megapixels, a large 2-inch LCD screen, and ZEISS 3x Optical Zoom, this camera produces stunning images at an affordable price.

Sony have developed a great range of accessories for the Cyber-shot W30, including a hard-wearing black leather carry case (LCS-WE), spare LITHIUM-ION Type G rechargeable battery (NP-BG1), and a great underwater Sports Housing that you can use in...

Sony DSC W30

Certainly one of the cheaper pocket sized cameras you will find. Therefore the Sony DSC W30 is likely to appeal if a small size is important and you don't want to blow all of your savings.

Viewfinder ; Ease of use ; Lack of shutter lag ; Value for money

Red eye

"If you are looking for a pocket sized digital camera offering real value for money then take a look at the Sony DSC W30. It is one of the cheaper models available, but delivers better picture quality than many more expensive digital cameras."

Great pictures, Nice design

Poor burst mode

The DSC-W30 offers a great, all-round compact package. It has no glaring weaknesses in any area and will satisfy most casual users.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30

Ultracompact size; easy operation; above-average image quality.

Tiny controls; lots of noise at high ISO speeds; few scene modes; no manual settings.

Want an ultracompact that doesn't sacrifice image quality? This little gem may meet your needs. But don't count on the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W30's ISO 1,000 sensitivity.

Thin and ultra-compact, the new Sony DSC-W30 digital camera (and its sibling the W50 model) updates the Cyber-shot line with convenient portability and fully automatic exposure control in a compact, rugged metal case. The W30 offers the excellent...

Fast, excellent shutter response, excellent shot to shot speed

Though the LCD monitor dominates the rear panel, Sony managed to keep all the main functions close at hand and fairly easy to operate. Grab the Sony W30 in your right hand and your middle and third finger naturally grab the raised ridge on the front of...

Sony Cyber-Shot W30

The Sony Cyber-shot W30 is the first of 2 new compact W series cameras from Sony capable of taking photos at high sensitivities. It shares the 6 megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom and ISO 1000 capabilities with the W50 (which retails for $20 more). The W50...

Excellent battery life ; Conversion lens compatibility ; Flash control is better than most ; Gets very close with 2 cm macro mode ; Great high ISO performance (Even ISO 1000 shots are acceptable) ; Unlimited VGA 30 FPS movie mode ; Very good image quality

LCD visibility and resolution not excellent ; Small and low resolution LCD ; Zoom lever is too easy to bump

The Sony Cyber-shot W30 is essentially a W50 with a smaller LCD. The W30 and W50 are both about 10% smaller than the W5 yet features a 6 megapixel CCD, 3x zoom lens with the same specifications, excellent battery life and can still support conversion...
