Sony DSC-W50

Very good image quality outdoors.Excellent Multi-pattern metering.Excellent colour rendition.Compression choice at all image sizes.Fast to operate and react.Excellent ergonomic design.

Sensitive to noise at and above 200 ISO.Image compression a touch too strong at the highest image quality.Flash a bit too weak.Mediocre software.

Sony DSC W50

The Sony DSC W50 is a pretty standard digital camera. It will fit into a pocket, but is not quite as stylish as some of the other cameras in the Sony range. It does come with a much lower price tag though.

Viewfinder ; Ease of use ; Lack of shutter lag

Red Eye

"The Sony DSC W50 ticks all the right boxes. It scores highly for ease of use, low shutter delay, competitive pricing and picture quality. It is also one of the ever decreasing number of pocket sized digital cameras offering a viewfinder."

Sony Cybershot DSC-W50

The Sony DSC-W50 - a slightly upgraded version of the Sony DSC-W30 - exhibits strong performance and is an excellent camera for day-to-day photography...

Nice pictures, ISO 1000

Poor burst mode

The W50 is a great camera, with good performance very similar to the W30, but with a slightly larger LCD display.

Sony's compact DSC-W50 Cyber-shot reviewed

The Cyber-shot DSC-W50 is a decently priced 6 megapixel shooter from Sony with claims to higher light sensitivity and not a lot else to brag about, at least on paper. DCRP has put the camera through its paces, and they find it a fine camera for ...

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W50 review

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W50

Compact; easy operation; decent image quality.

Feels flimsy; noisy at high ISO; few scene modes or manual controls.

It's not very flexible, and it's not for low light shots, but the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W50 is still a solid ultracompact camera.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50

It's not very flexible, and it's not for low light shots, but the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 is still a solid ultracompact camera.

Compact ; Easy operation ; Decent image quality

Feels flimsy ; Noisy at high ISO ; Few scene modes or manual controls

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 is a decent ultracompact digital camera that makes up for its lack of controls with its solid performance and image quality. Its high sensitivity can give you passable low-light shots if you can get past the noise, and its...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera - Full Review - The Imaging Resource!

Thin and ultra-compact, the new Sony DSC-W50 digital camera (and its sibling the W30 model) updates the Cyber-shot line with convenient portability and fully automatic exposure control in a compact, rugged metal case. The W50 offers the excellent...

Fast, excellent shutter response, excellent shot to shot speed

Macro mode shows severe curvature of field/blurry corners, So-so handling of household incandescent lighting, A tendency toward slight warm casts in many shots, No custom/manual white balance option

Though the LCD monitor dominates the rear panel, Sony managed to keep all the main functions close at hand and fairly easy to operate. Grab the Sony W50 in your right hand and your middle and third finger naturally grab the raised ridge on the front of...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50

Taking great photos in most situations, the DSC-W50 is a bargain at this price.

With a higher ISO sensitivity than the Canon (1000 versus 800), the W50 has a theoretically better anti-shake mode. But beyond ISO 800, noise makes images unusable, even printing at 6 x 4in – a trait of almost all the cameras here
