Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 review

Small, fast and friendly, but image quality is disappointing

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 review

As everyone's well aware at this point, one of the key advantages point-and-shoots have over smartphones is their zoom lenses. Sony's out in front for 2013 with the 30x zoom Cyber-shot HX50V and the 20x zoom Cyber-shot WX300. Though both are small...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 is currently the lightest, smallest camera with a 20x zoom. It has built-in Wi-Fi for on-the-go sharing (among other things); fantastic battery life; and a large variety of auto shooting options.

The camera's weight and size can make it difficult to keep steady when using the zoom lens, the screen is difficult to see in bright sun, and the lens has small apertures at both ends, making the zoom best suited for daytime, outdoor use.

If you miss having a zoom lens, but don't want to add too much bulk and weight to your travels, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 is a very good choice.

Sony Cybershot DSC-WX300 Review

The Sony Cybershot DSC-WX300 is a digital camera which is pocketable, yet packs a 20x optical zoom lens, Wi-Fi and an 18.2 Exmor R CMOS sensor. It is available in red, white and black for £280.00.

Small body, 20x optical zoom lens, Built-in Wi-Fi, Up to 10 fps continuous shooting, Excellent battery life, Images have good colours, Impressive focus speeds

Image detail could be better, Images are noisy from ISO 800 upwards

Sony Cyber-shot WX300 review

The Sony Cyber-shot WX300 is an eminently pocketable digital camera that still has enough room in its svelte form to pack in a large 20x optical zoom lens and Wi-Fi. We give it the once over in...

Large optical zoom; Built-in Wi-fi; Responsive in operation; Fast focusing

Body almost too small in conjunction with the lens; Noise is a major issue above ISO 800

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 ( Red)

Also, because of how much Sony has pared down its Cyber-shot lineup, the HX50V is really targeted at those who want more control and features, while the WX300 is for those who want a better shooting experience than you get using a smartphone. At...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 Review

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 is billed as the World's smallest 20x optical zoom digital compact camera. Add to that a cutting-edge design, Exmor R CMOS sensor with 18.2 megapixel resolution, 10fps burst shooting, 500 shot battery life, built-in Wi-fi...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX300 is a lovely camera to look at. It's slightly reminiscent of the new RX series that they've released and maybe that's what they set out to do. The build quality that's gone into the WX300 is great, such as the G lens, metal...
