Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 review

The Cyber-shot WX9 is Sony's entry point for getting an Exmor R backside-illuminated CMOS sensor . These sensors, which provide faster shooting performance and better low-light quality, were previously used only in Sony's higher-end Cyber-shots; the...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 offers excellent features for automatic snapshots and speedy shooting performance, and nice photo and video quality for its class.

The WX9's controls might be too small for some users and its photos aren't sharp enough for pixel peepers.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 is a lot of camera--with solid shooting performance and photo and movie quality--for the money.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX9 Preview

Sony's Cyber-shot cameras are getting a series-wide upgrade for 2011. In fact, one of the most affordable models, the DSC-WX9, features many of the same capabilities found in series-siblings costing twice as much: 1080/60i AVCHD video recording, a...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 Review

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 is Sony's latest offering in its high-performance WX series, cameras which contain a backside illuminated CMOS sensor for improved low light ability and faster performance. The 16.2 megapixel WX9 succeeds the 12.2 megapixel...

Attractive, lightweight body, Good image quality, even in low light, Excellent HD video, Quick performance

Some buttons and dials are small and hard to use, Cannot adjust aspects of images, No filters, Reds a bit too saturated

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX9

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX9 is a great 16-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS digital camera that doesn't cost much for what you get. It also is quite portable and offers 1080p HD video recording, but the controls are a little too small for some...

BROKEN INSIDE SIX MONTHS from light recreational use.

DO NOT BUY A SONY DIGITAL CAMERA or any other electronics product, hey don't stand behind their merchandise. I will be buying a CANNON or NIKON next time.

Takes decent snapshots for a point and shoot.

I have had the camera for six months and it already broke. Two days ago it worked fine and then with no warning, the lense stopped opening up. The customer service was terrible. They were difficult to understand and completely useless.

"For $149.99 on clearance, it was too good to pass up."

I purchased my DSC-WX9, brand new and sealed in the box, on clearance from Target for about $150. Aside from the display model, this was the last one they had. The pictures did seem a little soft, but the quality of images were still good looking and,...

1080/60i in MP4 and AVC-HD, good low light sensitivity, fast response with class 4 SD card, options for picture and video taking, quality Carl Zeiss lens, high-res LCD, attractive and slim design, lightweight, ability to use Memory Stick or SD media.

Pictures taken can appear somewhat softer. Small controls can be a problem for some.

Love at First Glance

After opening the box and filing through the literature it contained, I finally got my hands on this camera. At first glance you can immediately distinguish its quality by the construction of its outer casing. The beautiful cosmetics are simply...
