Back to the Dark Ages - "Old Technology" triumphant! (Revised)

Simplicity and reliability. Uses commonly available "consumables"

Might excite disdain from observors but what else can last 10 years? 35MM?

Great beginner camera

This was my first digital camera. Unless you like using floppies, A LOT, you'll want the optional floppy disk to memory stick adapter. This allows you up to 128MB image storage. Downside to the adapter is the extra "lag" time to write the image to the...

Great starter camera. Easy to use plus advanced features.

No memory stick. Memory stick adapter causes too much lag in storage times.

Nice entry-level digital camera

This is the perfect camera for taking photos of eBay items, sending pics over email, etc. The image quality is good, it is easy to use (with well thought out controls) and the accessories are plentiful. The "new-in-the-box" price is a little high (in...

Good image quality, easy to use, instantly accessible photos.

Limited battery life.

Not all Megapixels are Created Equal!

I actually do not own this camera, but had the fortunate priveledge of borrowing a friends camera for 6 months! :) I used it mainly to take pictures of my baby when she was born.

Great Picture quality even at 1.3 Megapixel. Floppy disk, nice LCD, MPEG, Lots to list.

This one is easy, the price.

Share Your Photos Instantly!!

The cost of film and developing has always been my biggest concern. Before CD-Rs and CD-RWs, there was the 3.5-inch diskette. After having lived through the 90s, I've amassed thousands and thousands of them. After looking into the FD85, I realized...

Easy to use, inexpensive, affordable media

Zoom/Wide-angle, delayed shutter, battery life

This is a nice camera

With these cameras going for about $250-$300 on eBay (as of 12/01) this might be a bargain way to get a quality camera for less. I've owned mine for about 2 years now, and I still like it, and haven't seen anything much better.

quality photos, stored on diskette

display can be hard to see in sunlight

SONY Actually makes something that works like it should!

Ok. I admit it, as soon as I saw one of these in a store, and saw a friend use one of their own. I was hooked. The fact that for a few bucks you could buy a pack of floppy disks and go on a photography rampage played a major role in my deciding to...

Floppy drive for easier transfer between other computers.

Not as much storage as a comparable camera with internal/removable memory card.

For the money, one Great buy!

I admit at the get-go I got a great buy on this camera. A friend told me Circuit City was discontinuing the Mavica FD-85 and they had one left - no box, no accessories, for $299. Fortunately this friend didn't tell me "no accessories," so when we got...

Quality photos, great close-ups and night photos.

Only allows 6 quality pics per floppy, only a single 15 second movie.

I love this one too.

I bought this Sony Mavica MVC-FD85 to replace the Mavica MVC-FD83. My son used it so much for listing on eBay that I finally gave it to him and bought the FD85. I'm as pleased with it as I was with the FD83. I really like the copy feature and used it...

Easy to use, reliable, fun!

Would like a Telephoto Lens.

My kids & I love this camera!

I bought this camera when I started homeschooling my daughter to record field trips and projects. It was an instant hit! It is a tough camera, I once set it on the bed of a pick up truck and the driver drove 15 miles with it bouncing around in the back...

Easy to use, floppies make for easy transfer, takes abuse well

Dosen't take action pictures, no telephoto lens available.
