JAYS v-JAYS (Black) review

Swedish headphone maker Jays isn't exactly a newcomer to the market, but the company's products had yet to make their way to the CNET Reviews desk until quite recently. The first pair to earn the privilege is a sleek on-ear model with a...

The Jays V-Jays Headphones offer a stylish design that is compact and lightweight; they stay securely on the head; and they offer clear and fairly balanced audio.

The Jays V-Jays Headphones don't seem terribly durable for the price and may not be comfortable for all users. The foam earpads are flimsy, and the headphones suffer from noticeable sound leakage. Bass response is lacking.

For those who can't stand the thought of putting earbuds into their ears, the Jays V-Jays Headphones offer a nice alternative in the ultraportable headphone space.

Jays v-Jays headphones

If you think a portable headset that delivers decent sound quality and volume without the associated price pain is about as real as Santa Claus, check out Jays' v-Jays on-ear earphones.

Excellent sound quality at any volume; clear, undistorted sound even at the loudest volumes; affordably priced; thin and lightweight; audio cable extender; and adjustable headband.

Lacks the bass punch of any pair of Beats headset; design is not very flashy, lacking the eye-catching appeal of Monster's new earphone lines; feels a bit flimsy in hand; and no travel pouch.

Jays v-Jays

Jays' v-Jays headphones offer quality audio performance at moderate volumes in a simple, lightweight design that's affordable.

Solid overall audio performance, with crisp highs and a rich, tempered bass response. Simple, well-implemented design. Comfortable fit.

Very minor distortion occurs at top volumes on tracks with seriously deep bass. No inline remote or microphone for mobile devices. No carrying pouch.

The RHA SA950i has a very sculpted audio response—less balanced than the v-Jays, but it comes with an inline mic and remote, as well as a fully detachable cable. And if you can spend a little more, our Editors' Choice for budget headphones, the $100...

Review: JAYS V-Jays Headphones

Want a great pair of headphones for not much cash? The no frills V-Jays deliver on sounds for a price tag that's only double digits.

Surprisingly deep bass. Capable of ear-thrashing loud volumes. Lighter than a bag of helium. Somewhat portable

Headphones don’t fold up very compactly. A little dull on higher frequencies

Jays v-Jays

The Jays v-Jays are yet another fine set of headphones offering a collapsible set of on-ears with detailed sound and ample bass.

Even-handed, yet exciting ; Detailed ; Full bass ; Lightweight and collapsible ; Detachable extension cord

Plastic-y ; Not as comfortable as rivals ; Treble can be grainy

While it's one of the best portable options around, and certainly better than the disappointing version II of the PX100s there are other options. For example, the "hi-fi" Grado SR60i's are currently selling online for the ridiculously cheap AU$99.

REVIEW: v-JAYS over-ear lightweight clear-bass folding headphones

“Bass is very strong and clear, Nemo,” he said. “Much more than I've heard before. These must be expensive headphones.” Not especially, I told him. They are priced under “Bass is very strong and clear, Nemo,” he said. “Much more than I00.

Jays v-JAYS Headphones Review

v-JAYS by Jays are the most sleekest and most simple headphones I've seen and used by far. The v-JAYS are on-ear headphones and are extremely lightweight and portable. The v-JAYS also fold up by collapsing each side except for the headband making them...

The v-JAYS sound really great. The sound quality is amazing and very clear. The v-JAYS pack some nice tight and very noticeable bass. Nothing seems to distort or muffle out any of the sounds which is fantastic. The v-JAYS have fantastic crisp highs and...

Review: JAYS v-JAYS Heavy Duty Bass Headphones

v-JAYS are similar to c-JAYS in styling, featuring an old-fashioned plastic expandable headband with a light layer of foam on its inside, extending plastic arms, and square, pivoting on-ear speakers that have been covered with a thicker foam. Unlike...

As much as we enjoy JAYS' industrial designs, and have watched with interest as the company played with on-ear products, v-JAYS strikes us as only a decent product-a pair of nice-looking on-ear headphones that we wouldn't use instead of Apple's...
