Sol Republic Jax earphones: They look cheap but sound good

The $40 Sol Republic Jax In-Ear Headphones look like a $20 pair, but match the sound quality of some $75 to $100 models.

The ; in-ear headphones deliver good sound for a relatively modest price. They also fit comfortably and have a tangle-resistant flat cord, and there's an Apple-friendly inline remote with microphone for making cell phone calls.

The Jax's simple, plastic design looks cheap.

The $40 Sol Republic Jax in-ear headphones have the look of a bargain pair but sound as good as some headphones that cost twice as much.

SOL Republic Jax In-Ear Headphones

The SOL Republic Jax In-Ear headphones deliver powerful, deep low frequency response in an affordable design for bass-lovers on budgets.

On tracks with intense deep bass content, like the Knife’s “Silent Shout,” the Jax delivers booming low-end with little or no distortion, even at top, unsafe listening levels. At maximum volume, it teeters on the edge of distortion, but at any slightly...

SOL Republic Jax In-Ear Headphones

The SOL Republic Jax In-Ear headphones deliver powerful, deep low frequency response in an affordable design for bass-lovers on budgets.

Powerful audio performance with deep lows and almost no distortion at maximum volumes. Inline remote control and microphone for mobile devices. Affordable.

Very bass-heavy and lacking in higher frequency definition. Cable thump will be annoying to some.

Purists should obviously look elsewhere, but the Jax won't disappoint bass fiends on a budget. If you're looking for a pair with a bit more balance and less booming bass in this price range the RHA MA450i is a solid earphone pair for the price, while...

SOL Republic JAX In-Ear Headphones Review – Budget In-Ears That Don’t Disapoint

For the same price as Apple's EarPods, you can buy yourself a pair of SOL Republic JAX in-ear headphones. Apple's new EarPods sound great, but most will find that the JAX sound better. JAX also fit better as they actually go in-ear. With that said,...

Didn't last a month

The volume is fab but the speaker is so big that none of the 3 sizes fit my ear, so I can't do any activity wearing them. Only had them a month and the left ear does not produce sound anymore. This product hasn't even got earphone basics right. Thought...

Pretty good lacks strong bass

Good value for money falls behind beats by dre on the fact it seriously lacks bass - would probally save for dre once these break - bought from JB HIFI. Would be cooler if they came in more colours or designs. Fall out of ears quite easily which is...
