SteelSeries 5H V2 Gaming Headset

Is the SteelSeries 5H V2 headset the right choice for gamers?

Also potentially useful is the shortened, braided cable emanating from the left earcup. This measures about a metre in length, with a further two metre extension available. As such if you have your PC close to you (say, sitting on your desk) then you...

SteelSeries SteelSound 5H v2

SteelSeries launches in to the audio world with a competent set of gaming headphones.

The foam padding is pretty comfortable, and the top band of the headphones is padded with what I can only assume is a rather thin faux leather. From experience, these tend to blister up and peel off eventually. But hey, headphones don't last forever.

SteelSeries 5Hv2

Pulls apart for easy transportation ; Hide-away microphone ; Extremely long, detachable cable ; Enhances voices and things like gunshots, positioned for competitive gamers

Pricey for the audio quality ; Not really for music

The 5Hv2 can be best described as passable. If you don't need to pull your headset apart, we'd recommend the cheaper, more comfortable and tonally superior Plantronics GameCom 777 or 377.

Steelseries 5HV2 USB Review

The sequel that's even better.

sound positioning is fantastic, comfortable, mic stash, sturdy

7.1 USB sound card made no difference, software for it is useless

If you would ask me to recommend one over another, honestly, I would be stumped. Both has their own pros and cons, and I guess it all boils down to personal taste.
