Asus ROG Strix Flare review: The keys to a perfectly customised gaming experience

Comfortable and well made, the ROG Strix Flare offers an unrivalled range of customisation options

Incredible functionality ; Abundant customisation options ; Practical

Slight lack of tactile feedback

There’s no 3.5mm mic or headphone jack, but this and the fact that the ROG Strix Flare needs to connect to two USB ports instead of just one are about the worst things you can say about it. The higher price is more than justified, by both the...

ASUS ROG Strix Flare Review

ASUS ROG Strix Flare RGB Mechanical Keyboard Review

The ROG Strix Flare keyboard from ASUS promises all a gamer could want - and more. With Cherry MX sw It ticks all the boxes for a gaming keyboard – but how does it stack up against the competition?

Very attractive design.

Plastic body.

The ROG Strix Flare is beautiful to look at and great to use. It’s almost perfect but we think a metal body would be a little more appealing at this price point.

Asus ROG Strix Flare

The Cherry-switch-based Asus ROG Strix Flare is well-made and has solid gaming and writing chops, but a few software quibbles keep it from joining the pantheon of today's gaming keyboards.

Per-key RGB lighting controls. Five Cherry MX RGB switch options. Nice finish on the case. Customizable acrylic logo slide.

Buggy configuration software. Wrist rest lacks padding. Limited number of configuration profiles.

Bottom Line: The Cherry-switch-based Asus ROG Strix Flare is well-made and has solid gaming and writing chops, but a few software quibbles keep it from joining the pantheon of today's gaming keyboards.

Asus ROG Strix Flare Review

The Asus ROG Strix Flare is a gaming keyboard with the high price we expect – but the kind of subtle design that's rare in this part of the market. This £140 / $180 unit has smart looks, customisable options and RGB LEDs, and it uses familiar CherryMX...

The Asus ROG Strix Flare is excellent. The CherryMX Red switches provide a superb base for every kind of game. They’ll handle work as well thanks to the supremely satisfying typing action.
