I have owned two previous media center keyboards of larger size but they have tack balls and scroll wheels - perfect combo for media center interface when scrolling through albums, video, menus etc. on the popular media front ends. This could have been...

Good but...

 

I thought this was terrible when first purchased as the range was about 4-5 foot. I read other reviews and tried turning off all other 2.4Ghz devices with no effect. Was going to RMA it but then bought a $4 USB extension cable as a last ditch effort....

Bad trackball

 

The trackball only works when it wants to. Iogear offered to replace the keyboard but expected me to pay for shipping it back to them. It's not worth the cost to do that for a $35 item.

Nice compact size. Like the mouse buttons placement.

This is the KEY Keyboard to have.

 

Pros, Plug and play. Where has this keyboard been all my life.

Cons, Something weird is going on with the right side of the keyboard were the keys and numbers are mixed when typing I have to use the fn key to type the letters.

nice gadget when it works

I've owned two of these and really like the track mouse and form factor. I've owned all of Iogear's htpc keyboards, and have had lots of experience with this model. Some problems I had were: 1. With the first one I received the multimedia keys on the...

Form factor is fantastic for htpc use Well laid out design for right handed use. Multiple mouse buttons in clever locations. Scroll wheel. Great feel of mini trackball. Pocket to carry wireless usb connector. Windows key, and shortcut keys.

No on off switch like the GKM561R A backlight for the keyboard switch to toggle on and off like the GKM571R. See individual device complaints below. Quality of signal and assembly problems.

Unit is really intended to be a MC keyboard, and for that, it is awesome.I mentioned the range before, I should also add that I have the dongle on a 3 ft USB cable and routed from back to front so the dongle faces toward the living room. I did not test...

Range is good. I keep it in my living room for my Media Center. Furthest I can get is ~ 13 ft, line of sight. It always connects even from max distance. Unit is small, but not so small that it's clumsy for big handed folk. Left and right click button...

Works as advertised

 

Bought this to use with the WebBrowser built-into my new BlueRay DVD player, so that I didn't have to screw-around with the on-screen pseudo-keyboard (using remote's arrow keys) . . . yuk! This little keyboard makes it MUCH easier to fill-in text...

Inexpensive. Works well with my Samsung 'smart' BlueRay player. Small (takes-up little space on the coffee table). Light weight.

Hard to pick-up without accidently bumping side-mounted keys (until you get used to it). Wish the keys were underlit, so I could see them better in the darkened room.
