Mad Catz Strike 5 review

Not quite so mad as it's big brother, but it's definitely on the spectrum

Decent EYE OLED screen ; Configurable layout ; Better than its pricier brother

Still fairly expensive ; Dead-feeling membrane keys ; Not exactly a looker

Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E. 5 OLED Gaming Keyboard

Mad Catz released their new STRIKE 7 keyboard two months back, representing the high end model of their new cyborg series keyboards. Like the Cyborg RAT-9/7/5/3 mice, the STRIKE 5 is now released. It's more affordable, and just as promising. Equipped...

Macros that have accurate time delays and virtually no input limits ; Customizable in terms of hardware and software ; EYE OLED panel runs apps such as timers/stopwatches ; A keyboard that closely resembles the feel of a Mechanical keyboard feel...

Comfort somewhat comprised from glossy plastic palm rests ; EYE OLED dial quality issues

The Mad Catz STRIKE 5 is a good iteration from the STRIKE 7. Ignoring the touchscreen/OLED panel, the rest of the keyboard is almost identical between the two brothers. Some slight changes have been made in the STRIKE 5, some good some bad. For example...

MadCatz S.T.R.I.K.E 5

- Very nice backlit keys. - Lots of programmable keys for ingame functions and can easily switch between different profiles for games. - Modular Design allows for complete customization - Has a very sturdy feel despite the modular design

- Non-Mechanical, which allows for a full back light beneath the keyboard however it does require much harder key presses. - Profile packs that Mad Catz offer have only a few profiles for the Strike 5 & 7.

Love the customization.

All in all, i have really enjoyed this product. I love having every thing right at the touch of my fingertips. Volume and mic control, App start up, Couldn't say much about the stereo/mic pass through as i don't use it. All that being said, for $200 is...

The customization is awesome. The lighting, the keyboard configuration, and the palm rests are all nice. The keys and buttons feel precise and have nice feedback

It is heavy, and because of that if moved around alot the rubber grips on the bottom will unstick. It can also be a pain to get setup right. So once you have it in place keep it there

don't do it

buy something else, yes the features are awesome, but the quality is absolute garbage, it weighs a ton and is cheap build quality, the electronics in it give it the weight. DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE UNLESS IT"S JUST FOR SHOW!!! using it will give you...

the lighting, the macros, the eye

keys stick like crazy, it is an absolute trap for dust and hair, the mic/audio connectors are infinitely noisy they are not insulated from interference from the other wires ; after you have worked the keys so many times the plastic guides start to get...
