SteelSeries Merc Stealth Review

The Merc Stealth has many good points, but when you mess around with the placement of essential keys, you render the product unnecessarily difficult to learn to use.

Keyboards are notoriously difficult to review objectively. We don’t like mushy keyboards, but many gamers won’t use anything else. To each his own. The Merc Stealth has many good points, including adjustable backlighting, solid construction, built-in...

SteelSeries Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard review: SteelSeries Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard

SteelSeries Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard

Separate game pad area isolates keys in a game-friendly (first-person shooter) design; improved rubberized keystroke feedback; software lets you tweak key mapping as much as you want.

Game pad keys take some getting used to.

The SteelSeries Merc Stealth gaming keyboard updates an already innovative design by adding lights and a USB hub. Though the design may not be for everyone, the Stealth Merc should satisfy gamers who want more than just a unique key layout.

Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard

I bought this for 29.99 3 years ago with free shipping and used ones today go for over 200! My left wrist does not hurt anymore since switching to this keyboard. The LEDs are in a raised area underneath each key so spills wont kill this keyboard at...

Left hand sits naturally. No carpel tunnel! Can withstand a full cup of coffee being spilled on it! Comfortable

NO DELETE KEY!!!! You have to hit Num Lock then press 1 on number pad!! HIGHLY ANNOYING but you get used to it Only colors are red, blue, and purple... which looks kinda pink.. No in production anymore... if you have one, be careful!

Steelseries Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard

All in all, best keyboard i've bought for its listed price. I've owned 2 of them, and wouldn't hesitate to buy another once this dies. I don't really know how long they last. My first one had the wired chewed by my cat about 2 years after I bought it....

Ergonomic design allowing for close distance keybinds and macros. 1-11 buttons within a 3.5'' x 1'' space. I was able to create 30 keybinds on the extended WASD side of the keyboard. I could have bound at least 10 more without sacrificing comfort . Add...

It's heavy. Really heavy. The lettering on the keys wears out pretty fast too. The USB connector is heavy on a USB port also due to the 2 audio jacks that are attached to it (to power the mic/headphone jacks on the keyboard itself) I've had to use a...

SteelSeries Merc Stealth

had the original for years before the keys started to wear out and decided to upgrade to the light up version and right away I fell in love again. Its a great gaming keyboard. I know people who use a separate device as control keys that act with the...

lights up to make it easy to see during night. multimedia keys and has headset/mic and extra USB slots built in.

wish there were more light options available.

wish it would have lasted

Good idea, bad implementation.

liked this fairly well when I first got it, not so much after using it for a while. Really like the adjustable illuminated keys. Extra gaming keys handy but at an awkward angle for me.

Now the really bad. Left shift key shattered after playing pinball for a few hours. Number pad has been reworked making intuitive entry difficult. Basically if your not looking at it your gonna hit the wrong key. It could really use a palm rest as...
