HP Pavilion dm1z (with AMD Fusion) review

It's crazy to think we've been writing about and waiting for AMD's Fusion platform for close to five years now. Believe it or not, it was back in 2006

Great blend of performance and graphics ; Over five hours of battery life ; Impressive speakers for the size

ClickPad can still be frustrating ; Lots of preloaded software ; Fan noise can get loud

Review: HP Pavilion dm1z

HP continues to hang on to the little 'puter that could. And it's doing a fine job of proving there's life left in this market.

Solid performance, battery life (4.5 hours), weight, and price: Just about the perfect netbook in every respect. Love the little touches, like LEDs showing mute and Wi-Fi on/off status right on their respective keys

Shallow keyboard. Touchpad buttons miss lots of clicks. Not a tablet

HP Pavilion dm1z review: HP Pavilion dm1z

HP Pavilion dm1z

Nearly mainstream performance at premium Netbook prices; excellent battery life; capable graphics.

Plastic look and feel; thick and chunky compared with some 11-inch laptops.

The first laptop to offer AMD's power-efficient Fusion platform delivers on much of its promise, combining great battery life, decent performance, and basic graphics for less than $500.

HP Pavilion dm1z

The HP Pavilion dm1z is next step in netbook evolution, as its new AMD Fusion APU proved you can have great battery life without sacrificing speed.

Reasonably priced. AMD E-350 processor is fast and battery efficient. Fast 7,200rpm hard drive. Well-designed. HD resolution. Full size keyboard. Expandable to 8GB of memory. Over 7 hours of battery life

3G option not available yet

HP Pavilion dm1z

We've been hearing about AMD's new Fusion line of processors for what seems like ages, so I dove eagerly into testing the first Fusion-powered laptop to cross my doorstep--the HP Pavilion dm1z (frequently called the "dm1"). It's based on the...

Decent battery life ; Great performance and features for the money

Mediocre touchpad ; Flimsy ethernet jack cover

Viewed as an ultraportable laptop, the Pavilion dm1z is mediocre though inexpensive; but as a netbook, it's fantastic and avoids the usual netbook compromises.

HP Pavilion dm1z Review

The new HP Pavilion dm1 (also called the Pavilion dm1z) is an 11-inch notebook that uses the latest AMD Fusion technology to combine a fast dual-core processor and powerful graphics inside a budget-priced netbook alternative. Is this the best new...

Best video and gaming performance in the price range ; Nice keyboard ; Good battery life and low price

Occasional touchpad glitches ; No USB 3.0 port ; Doesn't deliver "9.5 hours" of battery life in real world use ; The HP Pavilion dm1z delivers good value with solid performance and decent battery life for a low price.

The HP Pavilion dm1z delivers good value with solid performance and decent battery life for a low price.

HP Pavilion dm1z Review

We're not living so close to the cutting edge here at Maximum PC that we can't see the utility of a no-frills, budget portable that's capable of performing all the common day-to-day computing tasks. Whether it serves as a secondary machine for work...

Performance that puts most netbooks to shame; good value

Battery life isn’t stellar; limited in multithreaded apps

All and all, it’s a well-rounded value package, although we’re surprised it’s not actually a bit cheaper considering that there’s no overhead for a discrete graphics chip. Nevertheless, if you want a small, inexpensive, versatile notebook, this is it.

HP Pavilion dm1z customizable Notebook PC

I bought this computer for use when RV traveling. It is plenty fast enough and has good resolution for such a small computer.

HP Pavilion dm1z customizable Notebook PC

I needed a small laptop for travel. I have a full scren 17 inch laptop but for short trips the smaller is just great for airport check ins with TSA.. The full lap top must weigh at least 10 times what this one does.
