Acer Aspire E1-572-6870

The Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 is a high-performing budget laptop that outlasts and outperforms rivals. It's a great choice for those value-minded users who don't mind paying a little bit more to get a little more performance.

The Aspire E1-572-6870 comes with a fourth-generation Intel Core i5-4200U processor with Intel HD Graphics 4400, 4GB of system memory, and a 500GB hard drive. Thanks to all these newer components, it is more than a match for the Pentium-powered Dell...

The Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 is a high-performing budget laptop that outlasts and outperforms rivals. It's a great choice for those value-minded users who don't mind paying a little bit more to get a little more performance.

Fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor. Full numeric keypad. Six hours of battery life. Removable battery. HDMI and VGA

Lots of pre-loaded programs. Only 1,366 by 768 resolution (Display is limited to 1,366 by 768 resolution). Could use more USB 3.0 ports. Some screen-door effect on display. No touch screen

The Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 ($579.99 list) is a fairly nondescript, glossy-black laptop, with a 15.6-inch screen and full-size keyboard. It's the moderately priced replacement for that ancient wheezing laptop with the battery that can only last fifteen...

Acer's Aspire E1-572-6870 is a good, but not great budget laptop

Yes, it has an Intel Haswell processor for less than $500, but its surrounding components keep it from being anything more than a budget laptop.

The ; is an inexpensive fourth-generation Core i5 laptop with a nice keyboard, decent weight for its size, and just enough performance to power you through average daily tasks. It has a removable battery, and the hard drive and RAM slots are easily...

The display is decidedly average, its touch-pad buttons are a bit of a pain, and despite having a spot for it, this model does not include an optical drive. Given its processor, battery life may be shorter than expected.

As budget-friendly laptops go, the Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 is a good value with sufficient power for basic tasks, and it doesn't look bad, either.

Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 review

The Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 puts a fourth-gen Intel Core i5 processor -- a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-4200U, to be exact -- and Intel HD Graphics 4400 into a sub-$500 15.6-inch laptop.

Acer Aspire E1-572-680 review: This budget 15.6-inch laptop is an outstanding value

The plastic construction helps keep the weight of this big-screen notebook lighter than some competitors with smaller displays.

Haswell-class CPU ; Bright 15.6-inch display ; Relatively lightweight ; Dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi adapter

No touchscreen ; Lots of flex in the chassis and lid ; Just one USB 3.0 port

You’re not going to get everything in a 15.6-inch notebook priced less than $600. Acer made nearly all the right compromises to get to that price point.

Feature diet. After our review of the Acer Aspire E1-572G with de

Matte Full-HD display; Chassis is slim and not very heavy; Good office performance

Display not very bright; No DVD drive

A SSD would increase performance - although the price would go up as well.

Acer Aspire E1-572-680: Budget 15.6-inch laptop is outstanding value

For general use, Acer's Aspire E1 is the clear winner in this roundup. Acer crams a lot of value into this laptop's $580 price tag, including a Haswell-class CPU (Intel's 1.6GHz Core i5-4200U) and a 15.6-inch LED-backlit display with native resolution...

Good for the Price

  (Rating Hidden)

Pleasantly surprised by the general performance. No fan of W8 and it took sometime to update to 8.1. The touchpad was actually fine and useable, and the keyboard more than adequate.Had to remove lots of bloatware and (tediously) replace McAfee with...
