Acer Aspire M5-583P-6428

The Acer Aspire M5-583P-6428 laptop gets a giant boost in performance and battery life, and does it without budging on the reasonable price.

Acer Aspire M5-583P-6637

The Acer Aspire M5-583P-6637 is a good desktop-replacement laptop at a reasonable price. While it's easy on the wallet, it won't wow you with features or performance.

Affordable desktop-replacement laptop. Touch screen. Good basic performance from an Intel Core i5-4200U processor. Decent port selection.

Basic 1,366-by-768 resolution. Display looks washed out. No optical drive. Most ports located on rear of system. VGA output requires separate adapter dongle.

Conclusion The Acer Aspire M5-583P-6637 is a decent day-to-day laptop with a fair feature set and adequate performance. The biggest thing going for the system, however, is the price, which puts it at the inexpensive end of the midrange...

Acer Aspire M5-583P-6428

The Acer Aspire M5-583P-6428 laptop gets a giant boost in performance and battery life, and does it without budging on the reasonable price.

Dramatically improved performance thanks to an Intel Core i5-4200U Haswell processor. Decent port selection. WiDi

Display is glossy and reflective. Colors are slightly washed-out. Lack of solid-state memory holds back the potential performance

At first glance the Acer Aspire M5-583P-6428 will look pretty familiar, with a chassis design that's unchanged from past iterations of the Aspire M5. But don't judge a laptop by its cover, because the new M5-583P-6428 boasts one of the first...

Awesome

I found the same ultrabook at Cost co but with 12gb of ram 1tb hdd and an i7 for 599$ and I was bummed but that's not really anything bad I guess

Everything about this ultrabook is great. Touch screen to specs inside. I use it as a gaming laptop and it handles everything I throw at it. It says the processor is clocked at 1.6 but its dual core is clocked at 2.6 and you wont really notice a drop...

there is only one con. windows 8 8.1 is ok with the start button but windows 7 is better and that is why I gave it a 4 out of 5

Not bad

Ordered 'recertified' for $399. Updated OS to 8.1. Acer drivers for 8.1 worked, although I had to install updated Intel ProSet for bluetooth driver a couple times to get it to work. BT is turned off by default. Look in manual. Keyboard lights up by...

Boots fast, runs quiet, seems well built for the price point

Wonderful, except for one thing...

If this did not have windows 8, it'd probably be a perfect laptop. The speakers are acceptable on a laptop (spoiled by my desktop, I know), but really, the only thing that makes me HATE this device is windows 8. Actually, if it just was possible to do...

Touch screen shinies! The touch screen is beautiful and fluid. The display is also great. The keyboard is easy to use, but the num lock is a little odd (turns off all the time). Backlit keyboard makes it easy to use in the dark

Windows 8: everything about windows 8 is just bad. It's clunky and demands that you use a microsoft account in order to get a lot of things done. Did I mention it's clunky? Why do most of the built in apps automatically assume full screen and make it...

DOA

The computer did start up and I was loving the backlit keyboard. One minute later, the screen dimmed and the battery light started to flash. 30 seconds later I lost the power. I'm getting a replacement sent. I'll update review when I receive it

Wish the machine would start

Great Price, Dented

Overall an excellent laptop with long battery life and a powerful processor (for an ultrabookish unit). The screen was better than I expected in both color and clarity. The trackpad is a little funky but the touch screen means its not used as much as a...

Great Haswell laptop with long battery life and an empty mSata slot

Came with 5 small dents on lid (no guarantees with a refurb). 5400RPM hard drive is slow
