Acer Aspire V5-571 Touch

Strong specs at a decent price make the V5 Touch a good option but it does come with comprimises.

Touchscreen makes Windows 8 more tolerable, Comfortable keyboard, Good sized trackpad

Mediocre battery life, Hefty weight

Acer Aspire V5 review

A touchscreen and decent build quality can't rescue this budget laptop

Touchscreen ; Affordable price ; Good keyboard ; Attractive design ; Light and portable

Annoying touchpad ; Poor battery life ; Mediocre processor ; Lacking connectivity ; Limited storage

The Acer Aspire V5-122P feels like a notebook the Taiwanese company just dashed off between high-profile Ultrabook launches and, as such, is hard to recommend. What could have been a highly-portable touch-enabled work laptop is undone by a poor battery...

A budget Windows 8 touchscreen laptop

Trackpad ; Touchscreen ; Smooth in use ; Good price

Keyboard ; Low resolution ; Not a lot of power ; Battery life not great

Acer Aspire V5 Touch (V5-571P-53316G50)

Laptops seem to fall into two main camps these days: pricey Ultrabook-like models that, let's face it, can be astronomically expensive, and those less-hot budget models such as Chromebooks and those plastic-chassis lower-spec models. Then there's the...

Fair price, backlit keyboard, keyboard and trackpad offer good resistance in use, 6GB Ram and 1.7GHz i5 processor make for decent enough performance when it's needed, touchscreen is responsive, full Windows 8 as standard

Slow to boot/wake and load software, limited resolution, washed-out colours and mediocre viewing angle to screen, plasticky build, 2.3kg weight doesn't make it ideal for transporting around

There's a fair lot of good to be said for the Acer Aspire V5 Touch from a specs point of view. For the money there's a whack of power on offer and that'll make this machine an attractive prospect, particularly as - despite its bulk and 2.3kg weight -...

Acer Aspire V5-123 review

It's cheap, but you'll need a calendar rather than a stopwatch to measure the performance of this laptop's processor

Acer Aspire V5-572P Touch review

This touchscreen laptop has a great keyboard and superb battery life, but it's a little expensive compared to the competition

Acer Aspire V5-122P review

Acer lists the V5 series on the ‘ultra-thin' section of its website, clearly suggesting that it's an Ultrabook. The basic design of this budget laptop is certainly light and attractive, with this particular V5-122P model providing an 11.6-inch screen...

If you're on a tight budget then the Acer V5-122P may prove quite a good value for money laptop. Its computing speed is low, but the build quality and screen are definitely above average for a bottom-dollar laptop. Unfortunately, the battery life is a...

Acer Aspire V5 review

The Acer's processor was paired with a generous 6GB of DDR3 RAM, but it could only score 2413 points in the PCMark 7 benchmark. It's the second-slowest result here, but it's a mid-table score that saw Windows 8 run without any sluggishness – and we had...

The Acer Aspire V5 is a sturdy and smart-looking laptop, but its decent exterior masks several key deficiencies. The Ivy Bridge processor can't match Haswell chips for application performance, games ability or battery life, and the screen's colour...

It's small and invitingly cheap, but this ultraportable just isn't powerful enough for most users
