Alienware 18 review

A gaming laptop with not one, but two of the best GPUs around

Extraordinary performance ; Envy-inducing style ; Great attention to detail

It's H-U-G-E ; Absurdly expensive ; Could use sharper screen

Alienware's 18-inch, dual GPU monster gaming laptop outpaces some gaming desktops in both power and price.

Alienware 18 review

There aren't many companies that still make laptops of this size, so the 18.4-inch display alone makes the Alienware 18 stand out from the crowd. It's a real dazzler too – the resolution is only 1920 x 1080 pixels, although at this price you could...

It's big, heavy and outrageously expensive – and at this price the display could offer better-than-HD resolution. However, the dual GPUs of the Alienware 18 really do provide the strongest performance we've yet seen from a gaming laptop. The only...

REVIEW: Alienware 18

With dual graphics, top-of-the-line processing power and an 18.4-inch full HD display, the Alienware 18 is one of the most complete gaming laptops on the market today. But power comes at a price, with the machine starting at £2,299 and maxing out just...

Looks & performs like no other ; Sturdy build quality ; Big, bright, colourful display ; Above-par audio ; Insane performance

Premium price tag ; Back-breaking size & weight ; Can get hot & noisy ; Glossy screen throws off glare ; Ridiculous battery life

Factory overclocked to pack a punch with the most intensive tasks and delivering ludicrous framerates on the 1080p display, the Alienware 18 has features you simply won’t find on your average gaming laptop. It looks outrageous and costs a fortune – a...

Alienware 18 Gaming Notebook Review (with Intel Core i7 4930MX)

Today we are going to take a look at one of the most powerful gaming notebooks to ever hit the market, the Alienware 18. This fits in right at the top of Alienware's range and is one of the most expensive gaming notebooks that is currently available on...

Massive screen ; Unique aesthetics and lighting ; Outrageous performance ; Excellent build quality

Short standard warranty ; Expensive

KitGuru says: An amazing notebook that is more powerful than many desktop systems available today.

Alienware 18

Big, bulky, and ostentatious as heck, the Alienware 18 is the ginormous gaming laptop you want to use to show off your riches on the game grid.

Dell Alienware 18 gaming laptop

Dell's massive Alienware 18 is more ‘portable desktop' than laptop, but can it justify its massive price?

Desktop-like gaming performance ; Solid and stylish build ; Great keyboard with gaming macro keys

Weighs 5.5kg, 58mm thick ; Costs about double an equivalent desktop

An excellent desktop replacement for serious gamers, let down only by its ultra-premium price.

Alienware 18

That's the appeal of the Alienware 18, a rare entry in the oversize gaming laptop space. It's even more of an outlier now, as 2013 has seen an influx of smaller gaming laptops , from the Alienware 14 to the Origin EON13-S to the Razer Blade 14 .

Dell's Alienware 18 is highly configurable, with dual video cards, tons of RAM and storage space, and an understated design that you won't hate.

The thick body raises the keyboard uncomfortably high, and getting primo parts costs a lot. Battery life is predictably poor, and this would have been a prime candidate for a better-than-HD screen.

There's a premium to be paid, but the massive Alienware 18 is a show-off-worthy desktop replacement that takes down even the newest PC games, and is just plain fun to use.

Dell Alienware 18 review: Gaming laptop as big as a tank, and as powerful

Sometimes nothing will satisfy quite like a desktop-dominating monster with an 18-inch screen and a body built like a tank. After a couple of years of ultrabooks and hybrids, it's surprising how much fun a huge PC, one that barely qualifies to be...

Alienware 18

The Alienware 18 is high-end gaming laptop for those with deep pockets.

Great performance. Smooth gameplay/SLI graphics. Cool lighting effects. Nice 1080p HD screen. Features include everything but the kitchen sink. Large capacity SSD+HDD. 32GB of memory. HDMI is an in/out port. 802.11ac WiFi.

Bulky. Heavy. Short battery life.

The Alienware 18 is a huge gaming laptop, but it throws performance, features, full-featured keyboard, smooth trackpad, customizable lighting, lots of I/O ports, and a great screen into the mix. It's the high-end gaming portable gaming rig you'd want...

Alienware 18 Gaming Notebook Review

We recently had a chance to play with the Alienware 17 , and while it's not the perfect 17" gaming notebook, I'm reasonably convinced it's still probably the best one available. Alienware has done a major refresh of their chassis design across their...
