MacBook Air M1

 

The MacBook Air M1 is one of the very first laptops to feature Apple Silicon, making it one of the fastest options at its price point.

It’s so fast thanks to M1 ; Exceptional battery life ; Strong app support ; Great keyboard

Poor webcam ; Same design as before ; Poorly positioned (and only two) USB ports

The Apple MacBook Air M1 may have been succeeded by the M2-powered model, but it still provides great value at its current price point due to the excellent performance of the Apple Silicon processor.

The MacBook Air (M1, 2020) runs the Apple Silicon M1 chip and sits alongside the newer Apple MacBook Air (M2, 2022). Should you still consider it?

Crisp display ; Performance is super-fast ; Fanless design ; Brilliant keyboard ; Not a bank-breaker ; Apple Silicon transition is going well ; 256GB minimum storage welcome

Maximum memory of 16GB ; Large bezels beginning to look dated ; No Face ID login ; Some key apps don't run on Apple Silicon natively yet

There's the M2 MacBook Air to consider for the performance and design upgrades, but the M1 MacBook Air remains an excellent choice, despite no longer being the latest.

The M1 MacBook Air brings all the benefits of the M1 Chip, amazing battery life and other improvements. There are omissions though

M1 Chip is revolutionary ; Brilliant battery life ; Same great design

Only supports one additional display ; Won't work with eGPUs ; FaceTime camera still poor

The M1 MacBook Air offers a significant improvement with better battery life and dramatically faster operation. There are still some areas for improvement though and stiff competition from the M1 MacBook Pro.
