We check out the second mobile Core i7 gaming laptop to pass through our labs, offering niceties such as a backlit keyboard and EAX Advanced HD 4 sound.

Asus G60J review

Can this Core i7 powered laptop show us quad core has finally come of age?

Huge performance ; Classy chassis

Awful screen ; Overpriced

There's an awful lot to like. More's the pity, then, the LCD screen is so substandard

ASUS G60J review

It wears the Republic of Gamers badge, which means the ASUS G60J can run many of the latest games. It has a 16in screen and a powerful graphics card, and it's comfortable to use - even in the dark, thanks to its backlit keyboard.

The ASUS G60J is not terribly expensive for a powerful gaming notebook. We think it's well-built, and it has almost every feature on our 'want' list save for dual-band wireless networking. We like it not only as a gaming system, but also as a desktop...

ASUS G60J gaming notebook

A powerful ASUS laptop for gaming and more!

Intel Core i7 Q820 CPU, fast, can run the latest games, backlit keyboard, surprisingly good speakers

Wireless networking card is not dual-band, screen is too glossy, no Bluetooth module

The ASUS G60J is a worthy desktop replacement notebook in addition to being a potent gaming machine. You can use this laptop for just about anything thanks to its powerful specifications, and its build quality is very good, too.

Review Asus G60J Gaming-Notebook

R.O.G. featuring Core i7. "Republic of Gamers" is the brand name

Good design; Extensive ports; Generous extras (Backpack and the Razor Copperhead mouse); User-friendly input devices; Good office and 3D performance

Bad positioning of the ports; Restricted viewing angle stability; Constantly running cooler fan; High temperature of the graphics chip; Poor sound quality; Very short battery life

The G51J, which is yet to be released, seems to offer a completely new and far better vista of visual delights than the G60J, although it will be equipped with the exact same hardware and has the same native resolution. Well we will eagerly await its...

Asus G60J, an A-List laptop that runs the most demanding games at native resolution

Power, strong build and an added splash of style make the Asus G60J a gaming laptop worth paying top dollar for.

Happy and sad

Great gaming Laptop

The laptop didn't come with a backlit keyboard, the battery doesn't last as long as they say. Overall the laptop runs fast

Consumer review (newegg.com)

it was too good to be true...

Asus tech support was thorough (even for a re-certified laptop). 20+ re-boots/config and driver changes later and I was advised to send it back to ASUS (at my expense to them). We'll see what happens after I ship this unit back to ASUS (and how long it...

Looks brand new. No scratches or defects

This unit was not properly re-certified ; Laptop Manual .PDF and "Refurbished Asus Laptop and Netbook Welcome Packet.pdf" were not found anywhere on any partition of the hard drive (supposed to be included) ; Backlit Keyboard not working. Lengthy...

Great Laptop!

Great power and performance for the price!

This has been a great computer for me over the past year or so that I've had it, Plays all the games I've thrown at it great, (ie: Battlefield 3, Bad company 2, Americas army 3, red orchestra 2, GTA 4, Rigs of Rods, etc) Keyboard back lighting is great...

I don't have any cons for it except that it would be nice if it came with Bluetooth built in
