Asus K53SV-B1

The Asus K53SV-B1 desktop replacement laptop packs high-end performance without the price tag, offering quad-core Intel Core i7 processing and powerful Nvidia GeForce graphics for under $1,000.

Quad-core Intel Core i7-2630QM processor. Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics card with Optimus switching technology. Luxurious aluminum palm rest stays cool to the touch. Wide-keyed, dust repelling keyboard. Generous warranty.

Basic feature set. Awkwardly placed power connector.

Review Asus K53SV-SX131V Notebook

IceCool. Asus is trying to appeal to the mainstream with its new K53SV multimedia notebook. The 15 inch device should impress with its Intel Core i5-2410M dual-core processor, as well as the GeForce GT 540M graphics card from Nvidia. In addition to...

Stable case, Good cooling, Solid application performance, Blu-ray drive, Quiet noise, Especially the stable case of the Asus K53SV was able to impress us

Weak display, Throttling, No USB 3.0 & Bluetooth, A USB 3.0 port and Bluetooth would be advantageous for the K53SV. Otherwise the ports could also be better distributed

In accordance with ASUS philosophy of presenting new devices in short periods of time, not long after the first Fonepad, new models, Fonepad Note 6 and Fonepad 7, have been announced. Unfortunately, f... Mechanical keyboard are conceptual way of going...

Great laptop for the price

I was looking for a laptop with a decent video card above all else, for under $1000. I got that and then some with this machine, just remember to always buy a Warranty with refurb products and you'll be protected and saving LOTS of money.

Best bang for the price, GTX 540, Sandy Bridge i7, 6 gigs of RAM, and an overall well made machine. I got this to replace my old ASUS F3sv that I cooked. Little bloatware was shipped on this, well compared to what was shipped on my old Laptop

The refurb job was a little rushed it seemed. I wasn't pristine like a new machine (I wouldn't expect it to be), but when they cleaned it, they missed a couple of small things. Also, when I first got it, the Windows key wasn't genuine, but I just used...

Great laptop, bad refurb.

After a lot of work, this thing works wonders. Don't take the risk of having an inoperable machine unless you have the tech level to deal with it.

Great hardware/specs, after some nightmares with fixing the "refurbish", runs like a champ

Whoever did the refurb wipe did it in such a fashion that the System Restore Utility would run on every startup, even after trying to run it completely. Also, the Windows first-time-setup would run on reboot. According to the refurbishers, the laptop...

Deceitful Laptop

DONT BUY THIS. Worst support ever.

This laptop was great. I watched movies and played video games on it and thought it was great

This Laptop is straight up stupid. I have been tinkering with it for the last 3 months that i have owned it and have been wondering why is my friends computer outperforming this better laptop. Its because there is no Nvidia 540m graphics card in this...

Asus K53 update

I wanted to redo the review after I had it for a couple weeks, shop runner was not a problem as I used my NewEgg preferred account, not a credit card, (still reeling from Pro-Flowers unauthorized magazine subscription).

bright beautiful display, fast and always connects to my wireless, even on the back deck

CD/DVD unit hard to eject because of small inverted button, no big deal once I got used to it

Excellent buy, get this while you can

I bought this to replace my laptop and so far I have been very impressed. I needed a lightweight model that still had enough power to play a few games (can't use a desktop due to a disability) but a high end gaming laptop was way out of my budget. I'd...

Very fast and does everything I need it to do. Honestly, I've never used a laptop this fast and to think I paid less than $800 is just unreal ; Nvidia graphics card ; Lightweight and comfortable to hold ; Numpad and calculator shortcut are really...

The integrated graphics card is set as the default, so you need to change this before you start playing any games. Right click desktop, then go to Nvidia Control Panel > Global Settings and get rid of Auto Select. Another note, make sure you update...

Amazing Laptop, Great Price

Great for gaming as i stated in the Pros list. Recommend removing bloatware and adjusting partitions prior to installing any programs.

This laptop is totally amazing!! I un-boxed it and immediately plugged it in and turned it on. The i5 core gives you the equivelant of a quad-core processor running at 2.3GHz a piece. Dedicated NVIDIA Geforce graphics for gaming and a standard Intel HD...

BloatWare... and pre-partitioned hard drive. After setup I had to run a Linux live CD and use GParted to resize the primary partition and delete the secondary one. The recovery partition is yet a third partition that you should not mess with nor have...

Not too bad for the price but...

I bought it to familarize myself with Windows 7 and Office 2010, instead of building a tower from scratch. Overall it was less expensive this way.

Nice, even my wife can use it. It will get the job done

Buying from Newegg with my credit card instead of using my preferred account automatically gave my info to shop runner. They are a scam! I thought Office 2010 would be activated because it was installed but I had to buy a key, and I do not like the way...
