Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T

The Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T desktop replacement laptop is deceptively sleek and slim, offering category leading performance and battery life that will carry you through the day.

Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T Review

Asus's VivoBook V551LB may look pretty, but with battery life that's as impressive as its screen is disappointing, and no solid-state storage, this Ultrabook feels more than a little unbalanced, especially considering its high price.

The VivoBook V551LB is a mixed bag of highs and lows, with very good battery life, but a sub-par screen. It has a mostly premium-feeling shell, but lacks the solid-state storage or backlit keyboard that we’ve come to expect with a system priced at near...

Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T good, but not much bang for the buck

While it offers good performance and battery life, the VivoBook V551LB laptop comes up short in other areas for the money.

The ; is a thin, attractive, and seemingly well-constructed laptop. Its midrange discrete graphics card and 4th-gen Core i7 processor give it overall very good performance and battery life. And it has a 1TB hard drive and DVD burner.

For the V551LB's near-$1,000 price, the screen is pretty disappointing, as is its slow-spinning hard drive. Also, its keyboard is not backlit, which, again, for the price it should have.

An attractive, solidly built 15.6-inch thin laptop with overall good performance, the Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T is held back by its lackluster display.

Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T

The Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T desktop replacement laptop is deceptively sleek and slim, offering category leading performance and battery life that will carry you through the day.

Intel Core i7-4500U processor and Nvidia GeForce GT740 graphics for category leading performance. Impressive battery life. Touch screen.

Low resolution display. Too heavy for easy portability.

Compared with other slim systems, like the Asus Zenbook Prime Touch UX31A-BHI5T or the budget-friendly Asus VivoBook S400CA-UH51, the Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T is impressive. It may not bring a lot of new features or radical design changes to the...

Review Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T Ultrabook

Sleek meets mainstream. With the 15.6-inch Vivobook V551LB, Asus

Appealing design, fit and finish; Excellent contrast ratio; Long battery life; Remains cool even under load; 24-month warranty

Fairly heavy; Conventional hard drive; Average brightness quite low; No keyboard backlight; Expensive

On the other hand, the V551LB is quite heavy and large for an Ultrabook, so we have to ask ourselves if we would be inclined to lug it around or opt for a smaller 13.3-inch or 14-inch system instead. One of our main points of criticism is the screen...
