Alienware M17 17in Gaming Notebook

Ardjuna takes a look at the first mobile quad-core notebook we've seen. Can this and the M17's ATI CrossFire X graphics deliver gaming nirvana?

Alienware m17 R2 (2019) initial review: An eye pleasing gaming notebook

Alongside the freshly announced and updated m15, Alienware has also unveiled the m17. A gaming laptop with several awesome enhancements.

Tobii eye tracking ; Blue light filter ; Various specification choices ; Cool lines and pleasing aesthetics

Price ; Less screen options than we'd like

The Alienware m17 R2 is a potential show stopped. A powerful, lightweight and easy-on-the-eye gaming laptop that packs a punch and does it with class and style you won't see much elsewhere.

Alienware M17-R1 review

Alienware's M17 is a great laptop with impressive performance, but not the most powerful on offer

CrossFireX graphics performance ; DDR3 RAM for quick response ; Quad-core processing ; Great chassis

A gaming machine could always use more RAM...

Outstanding comfort and great performance from this superb machine

Alienware m17 review: A surprisingly subtle gaming powerhouse

The m17 doesn't have the gaudy looks you'd expect from Alienware, but it has the power you're after.

The Alienware m17 can be configured with a uber-powerful Nvidia RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics card. It's significantly lighter than the company's preview 17-inch model and it's got a more subtle design.

Battery life is poor and a thin body means less ventilation and much more heat.

Alienware's m17 makes respectably few design sacrifices despite cramming huge power into a relatively thin frame.

Alienware m17 Laptop Review: Hot Rod Gaming

The Alienware m17 is a strong performer with great audio and a lovely display, but it runs hot and very loud.

Alienware M17

Beam us up Scotty! The Alienware M17 is Alienware's beefiest, most massivest gaming laptop. It's got everything you could need in a gaming desktop, but none of the wires. The base version of the 17 inch laptop comes with 160GB of hard drive, 2 gigs of...

Alienware M17 review

That gripe aside, those who want to get their game on will get a good deal out of the Alienware m17 - especially considering the price. As a gaming machine, the Alienware M17 delivers speed where it counts, but it lags a little in more conventional...

Alienware m17 (2019)

The Alienware m17 gets excellent performance from high-end parts, but with a merely okay build and power matched by less-expensive machines, the value proposition is questionable—especially at the lofty price of our review unit.

Strong general and gaming performance. Sleek design. Highly configurable at time of ordering. Decent battery life for the category. 1TB of speedy SSD storage.

Overpriced in this configuration. Components not suited to gaming on its 4K screen. Build is underwhelming for this price.

Bottom Line: The Alienware m17 gets excellent performance from high-end parts, but with a merely okay build and power matched by less-expensive machines, the value proposition is questionable—especially at the lofty price of our review unit.

Alienware M17

A look befitting the Caped Crusader and ATI's CrossFireX technology combine to make the Alienware M17 a terrific bargain.

Subtle, but effective, design. Big screen with the highest resolution available. Amazing price. Illuminated keyboard. ATI's CrossFireX technology delivers excellent 3D performance scores. A strong multimedia feature set.

AC adapter weighs close to 3 pounds. Noisy mouse buttons. Hulking frame.

Alienware M17 review: Alienware M17

Alienware M17

Decent mix of price and performance; optional quad-core CPUs and dual ATI GPUs.

Backtracks to an older, clunkier Alienware design; can get very pricey with the right options.

Alienware is trying to have it both ways with the new M17, combining a relatively low starting price with some very pricey upgrades, including quad-core CPUs and ATI CrossFireX video cards. Our configuration wasn't very exciting, but turned in capable...
