Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110)

The Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110) gives you some 3D performance, creative control of both your virtual media and the laptop's physical appearance, and features to make this desktop replacement laptop pop.

Huge battery, long battery life. Nice design. WiDi2. Minimal bloatware. Some 3D graphics performance. Automatic graphics switching technology. Bluetooth.USB 3.0. SWITCH lids.

No 1080p HD resolution. Slow 5,400rpm hard drive.

Review Dell Inspiron 17R (N7110) Notebook

Fair deal. Dell bundles a pricewise, attractive 17 inch multimedi

Fair value for money ratio; Good battery runtimes; Moderate emissions; Good workmanship; Large touchpad; Nvidia Optimus

No ExpressCard and FireWire; CPU throttling during full load; Sensitive surfaces; Fast Ethernet LAN only; Clattery keyboard; Mediocre display

17 inch multimedia laptops with a Sandy Bridge processor, such as Acer Aspire 7750G, the Dell XPS 17, the Packard Bell EasyNote LS11 or the Schenker XMG A701.

Followup after 30+ months

I see a number of comments on the chiclet keyboard - but when I travel, I'll use it in dark hotel rooms and think this is an advantage.

Followup Review after 30 months of ownership. I actually purchased a 2nd unit 3 months after the first I was so happy with the price/performance. The Gen2 i7 w/4 Cores, 8 Threads CPU is great performing CPU. It rips through work and is still a good...

Units came with Win7 Home Premium which doesn't support being able to RDP to the machine. Probably of no concern for most people. The battery life isn't great, about 2-3 hours off AC Power

Lots of bang for the buck

I was looking for a machine to just track my cameras, and display on a 47 inch TV (4 security cameras). I was poking around for a desktop and saw the price on this. I figured for a hundred bucks more I could have a laptop, which I don't have right now,...

Great display, sleek exterior, good amount of RAM. 2 USB 3.0 Ports, full size HDMI port ; Replacing the hard drive with an SSD increased battery life, and made it MUCH faster

Slow out of the box, could have included full software disk. Ridiculous how much a pain it is to replace the hard drive. almost a complete dissasemnbly of the laptop, including removing the keyboard, then the entire palm rest. However, I will say, it's...

So far, so good

Seems like a nice notebook. Everything works as advertised, and for the money it is a good deal. Seems like if you get a good one, you are happy, get a lemon and you are not; so I took the precaution of getting the year extended warranty, just in case

None that I have come across yet

Outstanding CPU Performance

Generally, people like or hate Dell Computers/Notebooks. The Inspiron 17R is typical of the product line. I've had several Dell Notebooks over the last 15 years that have been daily use workhorses and they have always performed. I'm actually picking up...

Gen2 i7 w/4 Cores, 8 Threads CPU is great performing & actually faster than the new high end desktops my employer is just starting to receive. Large, bright Display, HDMI Output with good amount of memory, hard disk - and 4G WiMax with ClearWire/Sprint...

Battery life is a little shorter than I like for a Notebook, but that's the cost of a 'hot' CPU. I'd also like more USB connections. I'm always trying to plug in a USB device into the HDMI connection

Great laptop, good price.

Overall, this is a great laptop. It can handle most anything I've thrown at it. For what you pay, you really get it back.

I got this one to replace my old and dying netbook. And I am glad that I chose this one. I'm very happy with the speed and interface of the computer. There have been no issues with general light use, browsing and such. And lower key games like The Sims...

It's a big laptop, but that shouldn't be an issue unless you want something ultraportable. I also can't run larger and more intensive games like Skyrim on anything better than low graphic settings. Still able to run it otherwise, however. The only...
