Dell Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1 (5379)

Unless you need to wring as much computing power as possible out of an extremely strict budget, you can find lighter, smaller, and longer-lasting convertibles than the Dell Inspiron 13 5000.

Good computing performance. Comfortable keyboard and clickable touchpad. Webcam supports face recognition.

Heavy. Poorly constructed display lid and low-quality screen. Subpar battery life.

Bottom Line: Unless you need to wring as much computing power as possible out of an extremely strict budget, you can find lighter, smaller, and longer-lasting convertibles than the Dell Inspiron 13 5000.

Dell Inspiron 13 5000 review: A speedy 2-in-1 ultrabook boosted by Intel’s 8th-gen CPU

Boasting speedy quad-core performance, a swiveling display and a reasonably price tag, the Dell Inspiron 13 5000 makes for a compelling ultrabook.

Impressive quad-core performance ; Swiveling display lets you switch between laptop and tablet modes ; Infrared camera allows for facial recognition

Dim display ; Feels a bit heavy ; Smaller 42Wh battery delivers mediocre battery life

Boasting speedy quad-core performance, a swiveling display that lets it double as a tablet, facial recognition and a reasonable price tag, the Dell Inspiron 13 5000 is a solid ultrabook option for mainstream users. Only its dim display and middling...

Dell Inspiron 13 5379 review – a 2015 laptop with 2017 performance

Among all the convertibles on the market, Dell is one of the first to equip its mainstream Inspiron lineup with Intel's latest 8th Generation CPUs. But is this enough to compete with Lenovo&#…

Stable base;Good input devices;Full utilization of the new generation Intel CPUs;Decent battery life

Flimsy and bouncy lid;Color-deficient display (low sRGB coverage) with low brightness; The panel uses aggressive PWM (our Health-Guard profile eliminates it);Outdated design with sharp corners, hefty chassis, thick screen bezels; No USB-C connector and...

Dell Inspiron 13 5379

This is the mid-tier Inspiron model with pricing starting at $499, and it's available both as a 360 degree hinge convertible and a traditional laptop in a variety of sizes. The Inspiron 13 5379 has a full HD IPS touch screen, Intel 8th generation quad...

Mixed Opinion

Fantastic laptop, small, light, portable and felt solid. But 6 months on and the screen has failed, clearly a hardware issue and Dell continue to give me the run around.

Excellent Little Laptop

Bought to replace my 5 year old HP. I was inclined to stick with HP but heard such good reviews about this that I took the leap and bought it. Cannot fault it at all at the moment. Great battery life, super fast, very light and portable.
