Dell Vostro 1310 review: Dell Vostro 1310

Catering to companies with one to 25 employees, Dell's Vostro line of laptops occupies the space between the company's consumer Inspiron and corporate Latitude lines. Like the Inspirons, the Vostro laptops offer a decent selection of components at a...

Reasonably priced; attractive design; antiglare display; corporate-level security, including TPM; thorough feature set; decent battery life; support package focused on small business.

Keyboard feels cheap; cramped touch pad.

Small-business owners who would otherwise buy a consumer laptop should consider the full-featured, 13.3-inch Dell Vostro 1310.

Dell Vostro 1310

The Dell Vostro 1310 is an affordable, lightweight laptop that caters to small-business users.

Good start-up machine. Lightweight. New industrial design. Inexpensive. Multiple processor options. Discrete graphics option. Multiple battery options. No "trialware" policy.

Single speaker; sounds tinny at higher volumes. Lacks options for a cellular modem.

Dell Vostro 1310 Review

When Dell launched their new Vostro line of computers last year the Vostros where immediately praised for meeting the needs of small businesses and budget-minded consumers alike. The Vostro 1310 is the newest and smallest addition to the Vostro family...

Thinner and lighter than the Vostro 1400 ; Reasonable battery life ; Nice screen and easy-to-use media buttons ; Good selection of ports ; Solid performance ; No bloatware ; Available with Windows XP ; Excellent return policy (NO restocking or shipping...

Glossy LCD lid is a magnet for fingerprints ; Chassis plastics feel too thin and hollow ; Mono speaker is painfully weak ; Uncomfortable touchpad buttons ; No S-video or HDMI port ; Price as configured is a little expensive compared to the XPS M1330

The 6-cell 58WHr Li-Ion battery provides excellent battery life for the 1310. With Vista's power management running in "high performance" mode, screen brightness set to maximum and wireless on, the 6-cell battery delivered 3 hours and 18 minutes of...

Dell Vostro 1310

Dell's small-business-focused Vostro 1310 has a temptingly affordable entry-level price, but a realistic specification soon brings it into line with the competition.

Affordable and highly configurable, Integrated webcam option, Hard drives up to 320GB available

Relatively bulky and heavy, Base specification is barely adequate for a business user, Price quickly rises as essential options are added
