Gigabyte P37W v4 review

The Gigabyte P37W v4 has great performance and respectable battery life, but is eye-wateringly expensive

Overall there’s a lot to like about the P37W. It carries on Gigabyte’s good run of gaming-focussed laptops, with battery life being particularly impressive, and it’s no slouch when it comes to performance either. We marginally prefer the build quality...

Gigabyte P37W v4 gaming laptop review

Gigabyte's been crafting plenty of gaming laptops over the past few months, and each one looks to improve on the previous version with improved specs and hardware. Enter the Gigabyte P37W v4, the latest machine from the Taiwanese manufacturer, and it...

We're used to seeing gaming laptops land like huge tank-like behemoths on our desks, so it's refreshing to see a manufacturer focusing on slimming its machines down - yet not compromising on its specs. Gigabyte's P37W is pretty thin for its class, as...

Not every laptop is perfect though, and we found a few complaints about Gigabyte's P37W. The keyboard itself feels rather cramped, even though there's plenty of space on a 17.3-inch laptop for a slightly larger set of keys. We'd even be happy to...

Gigabyte's P37W v4 is one of the fastest laptops we've had the pleasure of using, and its battery life isn't as bad as we were expecting from a gaming laptop. It is ridiculously expensive though at around £1,450, and the keyboard and trackpad could be...

One more thing

See my other review

I forgot to mention the battery is built in (like the cheapest laptops do) so in 3 years when it fails, this laptop will be a brick.

Love my Laptop! Great and fast as lightening!

If you buy a laptop with a SSD (solid state drive) make sure in settings you set your documents and music and photos to save to your other drive so you can keep the SSD drive just for the important fast things like the internet and games that take fast...

Fast with the SSD to boot from and so nice to be able to move around and enjoy a great gaming machine like this! So many cool features and quiet too! Easy to go right out of the box, and a very nice looking computer! The keyboard is set up nice and I...

The video would reboot some times out of the blue but went and downloaded the current drivers and that's fixed! The video quality on the DVD player wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Also some times if I look under this PC I can't find my D...

Very fast, has driver issues

It's a good product with a useful configuration of graphics card, drives, and other devices. I've had more issues with it than with my Asus laptop (which has four USB ports). But it weighs much less and is basically the same computer for a reasonable...

Very fast, instant startup with the boot SSD Great for both gaming and graphics-intensive work tasks Lightweight, easier to transport than most equivalent laptops (e.g. Asus)

Frequently get "Your video driver has crashed". Updated to the latest version, still get the message. On startup, get "Your device not compatible" (not exact phrasing) every time. Only has 3 USB connectors. If you connect many peripherals, you'll need...

GIGABYTE P37W-CF2

Ok, my other thoughts. First off, remove eLan's track pad drivers. Also I have noticed in League of Legends specifically that it will stutter sometimes. I do not know if this is an issue with League of Legends or my laptop. I have done some testing and...

Light and Thin ; Good display ; Decent enough audio ; Good cooling ; Keyboard and G Keys ; Very Very Fast ; I have owned this product for a little over a month now and I love it. It is (IMO) the perfect size for a desktop replacement laptop and...

Keyboard back lighting ; Track pad ; Chassis being an oil magnet ; Keyboard back lighting is nothing to write home about. It is bright enough, but the keys are not individually lit, so it turns out to be bleh ; The track pad... oh how I am used to good...

Great deal

I highly recommend this laptop. I've owned it for just a couple weeks now, but I did my research and in this price range this is one of the best ones I found - the best for me, obviously, as I purchased it. It's a great machine for this price range and...

G-key macros on a laptop! Only one I've seen with this feature ; Thin and super lightweight, but has that huge screen and a lot of power ; Stylish and clean black, not gaudy ; 128GB SSD+1TB HDD? Score ; Powerful GPU and CPU, great cooling ; Little...

A little noisy! The fans really have to work to keep this thin thing cool, I think. But with headphones you hardly notice ; A bit fingerprinty. Oh well ; Trackpad is a bit touchy. Buttons are hard to push sometimes and the trackpad is large enough that...

P37W

IPS screen, SSD, GTX 970M, Graphics are great

Advertised as 6 G DDR on the GTX 970M but CPUZ is only showing 4 G. From fresh start or sleep, hibernation shuts down after a few minutes but restart and it will run for the rest of the day. Little bit loud but to be expected due to form factor
