HP EliteBook 2540p review

It has a fast yet power-efficient Core i7 CPU under the hood, as well as plenty of RAM and disk space. However, it's the exterior of the HP EliteBook 2540p laptop that immediately impresses everyone who holds it.

Overall, the HP EliteBook 2540p is faster and has more connectivity options than the 2530p. It's also expensive. But if you're in business and you want a strong yet small and fast notebook with good energy-efficiency credentials, then it's worth...

HP EliteBook 2540p review

HP's EliteBook 2540p ultraportable laptop has long battery life and lots of security features, but are these enough to justify its high price and last-generation processor? Tom Morgan finds out in our review.

The EliteBook 2540p is an extremely sturdy laptop with long battery life and excellent portability, but it struggles to compete with laptops that have longer battery life or use Intel’s latest processors. It's still a good choice if you’re looking for...

HP EliteBook 2540p business notebook

HP's EliteBook 2540p is small, strong, fast and expensive!

Strong chassis, small yet powerful, ships with useful security tools, less than 2kg, integrated optical drive

Still has some annoying preinstalled software, slow hard disk, expensive

Even though it's a small laptop, the 12in EliteBook 2540p is no mug when it comes to performance. It also doesn't make any compromises when it comes to features. You can think of it as a laptop that has all the mobility benefits of a netbook, yet the...

HP EliteBook 2540p

A new HP laptop, the EliteBook 2540p assembles zippy components and versatile ports in a nimble case. Though HP's omission of a graphical processor slows the machine down for games and 3D software, this model possesses ample power for nearly any...

Zippy processor can handle any office task ; Small but still fits full keys and big features

Screen colors and contrast look muted ; Weak gaming and 3D software performance

Small enough to travel anywhere, the EliteBook 2540p breezes through business tasks.

HP EliteBook 2540p

HP's smallest business ultraportable, the HP EliteBook 2540p, is as sturdy and feature-rich as some of the bigger EliteBooks.

Ruggedized for business travel. Optical drive included. DisplayPort. Firewire. Excellent battery life. Multiple configuration options. 9-cell battery available. Soft keyboard for sensitive fingers.

Pointing stick is unpleasant to use. Twelve-inch screen has a small workspace.

Review HP EliteBook 2540p Subnotebook

Uncompromising. A very powerful subnotebook with long battery life? HP has crammed the most it possibly could into this 12.1-inch machine. This smallest of the EliteBooks has a Core i7, along with wireless technology from WLAN to GPS and ports from...

Powerful for a subnotebook, Low temperature increase during normal use, Integrated DVD drive, Low energy consumption, Good battery life, Robust construction, High-quality materials, Keyboard gives good feedback, Point-stick and touchpad, Docking port,...

Poor screen contrast, Slow, small hard drive, Only 2 GB of RAM

HP EliteBook 2540p Review

The EliteBook 2540p is the latest road-warrior ultraportable notebook from HP. The 2540p offers a 12.1-inch WXGA screen, Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors, built-in optical drive with select configurations, and a plethora of storage options. In our...

Great build quality ; Good looks ; Excellent keyboard

Very costly to customize ; Slow 1.8-inch hard drive ; One of the best 12-inch business notebooks on the market, but expensive to customize.

HP EliteBook 2540p Review

In last year's ultraportable notebook roundup (August 2009), HP's EliteBook 2530p put in a strong showing, wowing us with its good looks, sturdy construction, and strong performance. Its successor, the EliteBook 2540p, is strikingly similar in many...

Solid build; strong performance; generous feature set

There are lighter, slimmer, and sexier ultraportables out there; we’d like more storage

Should you want to add or swap out hardware, the 2540p offers easy access on its underside to one of the notebook’s two DIMMs, the hard drive bay, and an ExpressCard slot should you decide to add a broadband modem. Road warriors could scarcely do...
