HP Mini 5102 review

It does a great job of offering features that business users care about, but they come at a considerable price; the configuration of HP Mini 5102 we tested, with a touchscreen, 2GB of RAM, an Atom N450 CPU, and an extended six-cell battery, clocks in...

The design and feature set of the HP Mini 5102 is quite good, especially for the business audience it targets. The keyboard and touchpad are an improvement over the consumer-focused HP Minis, and scores of options are available. Unfortunately, this all...

HP - Mini 5102

HP's Mini 5102 is a netbook but it can come in at quite a price if you choose one of the higher specifications. Looking at the HP Web site as we write this review, there are ...

Without the touchscreen element the HP Mini 5102 doesn't have anything about it that makes it stand out from the netbook crowd. The high resolution screen of our review sample isn't available from HP online as we write, so even that is not a draw....

HP Mini 5102 netbook

The HP Mini 5102 is a netbook designed with business users in mind. It has an anodised aluminium lid and its sturdy design places it a rung above most...

Excellent battery life, large hard drive, 1366x768 screen resolution, 2GB RAM, 802.11 draft-n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, 7200rpm hard drive

Slower performance than HP Mini 5101, very long setup procedure, too much preinstalled software, no Sleep-and-Charge style ports, touchpad buttons are awful

HP's Mini 5102 is practically the same as the Mini 5101, but it has much better battery life. You can practically get a whole day of use out of its 6-cell battery (as long as you close the lid when you aren't actively using it) and the large hard drive...

HP Mini 5102

The Mini 5102 is the latest in HP's line of business-optimized netbooks, featuring a ruggedized metal chassis and design elements tailored for the office road warrior. It does a great job of offering features that business users care about, but they...

Lots of options, including touchscreen display ; Good keyboard and touchpad

Expensive for a netbook ; Limited resolution

The design of the HP Mini 5102 is great for business users, but the high price doesn't buy you extra performance.

HP Mini 5102 review: HP Mini 5102

HP Mini 5102

New Intel Atom processor; excellent build quality.

Some basic options can quickly drive up the price; small touch pad.

HP's sturdy and stylish Mini 5102 is a slight upgrade to one of our favorite Netbooks, but we had hoped for a little more fresh thinking for 2010.

HP Mini 5102

The HP Mini 5102 is the best business netbook money can buy. That is, if you're willing to pay costly premiums for the "extras."

Metallic lid is still pretty. Fast hard drives. Blue and Red configurations. Carrying handle option. Almost 11 hours of battery life. Typing and navigating combo has few equals. Environmentally friendly.

66Wh (6-cell) battery is a costly add-on. Some degradation in speed tests. "Extras" are pricey.

HP Mini 5102 Review

Is “business netbook” a misnomer? Aren't business notebooks supposed to be both portable and powerful, while emitting a confident and businesslike aura? Can a netbook ever be enough for a business user? HP is one of the few companies out there betting...

Great looks and solid construction; good keyboard; 7,200rpm HDD standard; lots of optional upgrades

Fingerprint-prone; can get extremely expensive; weird function-key switching; can't compete with CULV ultrathins

The Mini 5102 has a lot of selling points, from the great keyboard to the good-looking (if fingerprint-prone) chassis. At the base model, it’s a match for any Pine Trail netbook out there, and fully decked-out, it’s considerably better. But even after...
