HP dv9000z (Vista Ultimate) review: HP dv9000z (Vista Ultimate)

Beautiful design; bright, crisp display; complete set of AV controls, ports, and connections, including an HD DVD drive; long battery life; touch pad on/off button; excellent software.

Display resolution could be higher; media controls provide audible feedback when pressed.

The HD-friendly, feature-laden HP Pavilion dv9000z offers a high-end entertainment experience without the high-end price tag of competitive models.

HP Pavilion dv9000t

The dv9000t's HD DVD drive and QuickPlay 2.3 + an Intel Core 2 Duo processor = crazy delicious video playback

Integrated HD DVD-ROM drive. QuickPlay 2.3 is solid for HD playback. Powerful processor. Two headphone ports. 2GB RAM.

1,440-by-900 resolution seems a little low for an HD. Still doesn't have an integrated TV tuner.

HP Pavilion dv9000t (Vista)

There's a lot to be said about HP's design: The artistic imprints and the piano-black finish make it flashier than the Qosmio AV660. Its dimensions are thin, too: 15.5 by 11.1 by 1.1 inches (HWD). At 8.8 pounds, the dv9000t is still heavy, but...

Loaded with the über edition of Vista. Excellent HD experience. HDMI port for HD output. Best deal out there for an HD DVD laptop. Innovative remote that fits in the Express Card slot. Built-in remote sensor. Lighter than the competition

Needs an integrated TV tuner. I'd like to see some more options for graphics cards

If you're ready to jump on the HD DVD bandwagon, the dv9000t offers the best playback software and features on a desktop-replacement laptop.

HP Pavilion dv9000t with Vista Review

The screen is huge and the notebook itself is very slim. Previous 17” laptops from HP were very bulky weighing 9.8lbs, but it's nice to know that the dv9000t is easy to carry when needed. Believe it or not, I actually carry this thing around every day...

Large screen ; Number pad ; HDMI output ; Touchpad on/off switch ; Slim profile give the laptop size

Fingerprint magnet (cloth included however) ; Touchpad has some drag ; Right Shift key is smaller ; Media keys make noise (turn off in BIOS) ; Fans run quite often ; Notebook lid is a bit flimsy when closed

Running Windows Vista Home Premium on this laptop has its ups and downs. As a whole, my PC runs smoothly but certain areas like copying large amounts of files needs a LOT of work. HP includes all the drivers in a folder called SwSetup, so if you ever...

HP Pavilion dv9000t Review

I had been in the market for a new laptop for quite some time. I do alot of digital design work including web design and photo retouching, as well as making art in my spare time. I needed something with a bright, large screen and ample resolution to...

Extremely affordable ; Beautiful Imprint Finish ; Built-in Mic/Webcam ; Unrivaled screen ; Nearly silent operation ; Thin and light for a notebook of its size

Not enough choices for resolution ; Middle of the road GPU ; Dissapointing touchpad ; Fingerprint magnet

The operating system I chose for my system was Windows Media Center Edition. In essence, it is Windows Home with more multimedia options. I have no need for pro and the features included on MCE are pretty neat, especially for a media fanatic like...
