Lenovo IdeaPad S405 review

Ultrabook by name, netbook by nature

Low weight ; Ultrabook proportions ; Cheap ; Quiet

Performance could be better ; Similar to Intel-powered S400 ; Touchpad could be better

Lenovo IdeaPad S405 review

It's very slim for a budget laptop, but it's far too slow and the touchpad will drive you mad

Lenovo IdeaPad S405

The Lenovo IdeaPad S405 budget laptop may not cost much, but with plodding performance and a short list of features you'll give up a lot in the bargain.

Low price. Attractive design. Decent keyboard.

Sluggish performance. Limited feature set.

Conclusion Some value-priced laptops offer more than simple affordability, with features and components that belie the budget-friendly price. While these systems may cut corners with wobbly construction or a trimmed down feature set, they do so while...

Review Lenovo IdeaPad S405 Notebook

Couch potato. Lenovo's IdeaPad S405 comes with a Trinity quad-core and a light case and is very quiet. But, how do its dark glare-type display and its 32 Wh battery blend in with mobile ambitions?

light, 24 month warranty, works always quietly, decent system performance, maintenance possible, low power consumption, the removable battery, and the unlimited accessibility of fan, RAM, 2.5-inch HDD, and WiFi module

springy keyboard, short battery life, only Fast Ethernet, slow hard drive, reflective, dark display, only a single RAM slot (single channel), no VGA port, If low power at all cost, then the battery life should be long and the display bright and matte

Poor Man's Ultrabook

Incredible price for a great looking and surprisingly quick notebook. No-flex keyboard and an impressive screen were a surprise in this price point. I'm familiar with this AMD chip series but was surprised and how quick it responds. I didn't buy this...

affordable, solid construction, looks great

no VGA port, battery life

Very decent, light-weight laptop

We needed a light, inexpensive laptop as a second computer for our family. This fit the bill quite well and, for that purpose, I would recommend it. We use it for word processing, email, web browsing, and Netflix streaming -- for all of these...

Price ; Light / Portable ; Decent Screen Resolution ; HD Storage Space ; Attractive design

Badly designed touchpad ; Not for power users ; Windows 8 (personal preference)

lenovo S405 (59351953)

pretty light, no fingerprint magnet material outside ; CPU: For other usual computing except high-def video playback, A6 seemed enough ; NOISE: Not much noise. Stay fairly quiet ; POWER CABLE: It is pretty light, close to netbook size. Somewhat make up...

CPU: A6-4455M is NOT capable of running 1080p videos easily. It often struggles and jitters here and there making the whole experience sub-par to i3 2nd generation and even to Core 2 Duo ; SCREEN: The screen is absolutely horrible. Blue-tinted. And...

Great, efficient machine

I think you should go with this PC if you're looking for a simple computer to do simple tasks. Not sure how it would fare as a gaming PC, but who knows. I also really like Windows 8. I think it looks cool and makes your life easier.

Has everything you need, nothing you don't. I use it for basic things such as Spotify, Pandora, Web browsing, etc. I like how the speakers are on the bottom. I can close the lid and still hear the music. Nice feature. Also, it's very light, which is...

It is a bit plasticy. The lid is pretty flimsy
