Review Lenovo IdeaPad Y560p-M61G3GE Notebook

Inner values. A lot of power for little money is Lenovo's promise

Strong system performance; Good brand name speakers; Built-in DVB-T TV tuner; Big hard disk

Weak display (reflective, low brightness); Poor battery capacity; Prone for fingerprints; No USB 3.0

How a principally good laptop can be degraded by installing a cheap display.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560p

Very fast, strong dedicated graphics, great specs for the price., Very fast machine, solid dedicated Radeon graphics with 1 gig VRAM, runs cool and fairly quiet, battery life good for such a powerful machine, excellent keyboard, good selection of ports

No switchable graphics, it's Radeon all the time., Looks are acceptable but uninspiring, some flex in lid plastics, no switchable graphics

Though the competition hasn't yet kicked in with myriad second gen Intel Core i7 laptops in this class, we suspect that the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560p will hold its rank near the top for performance vs. price just as did the last generation IdeaPad Y series....

awesome buy

If you're doing anything more than normal video use (i.e. Youtube or movies), the laptop will start heating up quite a lot. I've seen cpu temps up to 75 C and GPU temps right behind it when I was gaming. Laptop will lock up if you don't let it relax...

Fast CPU ; Great GPU ; Wicked fast for an equally nice price ; Good gaming computer with a nice cooling pad ; Plays 1080p movies without any problems

Overheating problems, details in other thoughts ; 5400 rpm hard drive bottlenecks the speed of everything else

Great...six month life span

It's sad that these are built so cheaply. I assume they knew it was a subpar/weak product when they sold it.

Worked okay with some flimsiness and not so great battery life (not surprised for core i7). Gamed okay with some high heat output

Screen is bleak and with a bad 1366x768 resolution and not pretty to look at. Stupid power cord input, falls out all the time, like it's being squeezed out. Died yesterday after several months of random shutdowns/poweroffs. Not it won't start at all....

Excellent Performance for the price

After looking at several laptops for performance and value, this laptop is perfect for a budget, and the best i have found for the price. Max graphics settings with world of Warcraft sits right around 30 fps with dx11 enabled

Radeon HD 6570m in a laptop for under 1k...incredible ; DX 11 ; i7 2630QM, just as incredible as the Graphics card ; DDR3 1333, right up their with laptops far more pricy

5,400 rpm hard drive ; Facial recognition software for logging in is greatly flawed ; the touch buttons on top of the keyboard are virtually useless

Great i7 Laptop

I'm not a big gamer so I have not tried to run the graphics thru the ringer. I'd recommend this machine to my friends.

Does a great job of handling AVCHD Video editing/Burning using NERO. Doesn't lag at all. Windows 7 is also nice to use vs Vista

As others noted the heat from the cpu on the left side gets a little hot but I don't think it's a concern. Just make sure you keep it vented

Great specs for the price

I got this thing for college and it seems to be a fairly solid laptop. I'm able to max Source games on it easily and most games run on medium. Just gotta pray it doesn't fail on me.

Great laptop for gaming/work!~

Laptop is great, been using it for gaming and using Adobe CS5, going to upgrade it to the 8gb of RAM soon and I think this laptop will be my favorite for a very long time. Again with Newegg's amazing service!

Specs are awesome for daily usage and multimedia work ; Laptop stays very cool except when gaming too much ; Sleek design ; Touchpad very accurate

Bloatware installed from Lenovo ; Fn key and CTRL key are reversed

Mixed Bag of Win.

Originally I was pretty jaded by the keyboard. After several months I've gotten used to the placement of the keys. Back when I bought this machine it was the best bang for your dollar and it still is. I didn't have high hopes at first but this...

Great hardware for the price ; Best Value ; Stays pretty cool ; 4 months later and its still going strong ; Accurate trackpad ; Loud speakers

Fn and Ctrl placement isn't comfortable ; Low quality webcam ; Low quality microphone ; Battery life isn't spectacular ; No USB 3.0
