Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (7th Gen) review: Luxuriously light

A luxury laptop with a high-quality finish and high-quality components, but we'd drop down to a Full HD screen

Great quality screen ; Impressive security features ; Ultraportable design

Poor battery life ; Pricey

That high cost, along with the poor battery life, means the ThinkPad X1 Carbon narrowly misses out on a Recommended award. But, if you can find the right configuration for your needs at the right price, this will be a laptop you’ll love using for years...

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (7th gen) review

The long-lasting lightweight that'll help you escape the office

Light enough to lug anywhere ; Genuine all-day battery life ; Capable desktop performer

Design a little too restrained for non-business types ; No card reader ; Top-spec configurations are big money

This slim and light business-chic laptop has learned design lessons from the Dell XPS, but the X1 Carbon can’t shake the boardroom completely

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 review: Pure class

The 7th-gen Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon makes a number of changes to its predecessor. It's thinner and lighter, which brings some compromises in the keyboard and battery life, and it offers a wider range of displays including an excellent 4K option....

In its 7th generation, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is classier than ever

ThinkPad X1 Carbon review (2019): Sometimes it’s good to be boring

As always, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a strong business laptop that delivers an excellent keyboard and good performance in an elegant body. A handy webcam shutter and a sharper, more colorful display than its predecessors keep this 7th-generation model...

Light yet elegant body ; Comfortable keyboard ; Generous array of ports ; Convenient privacy shutter for webcam

Inconsistent display brightness adjustment ; Short battery life on high-res model ; Finicky webcam

Lenovo's flagship ThinkPad ultraportable delivers a great combination of premium laptop look and feel with business-grade privacy and security options

Lenovo's flagship ThinkPad ultraportable delivers a great combination of premium laptop look and feel with business-grade privacy and security options.

Lenovo's seventh-gen ThinkPad X1 Carbon improves on its predecessor with a thinner, lighter body and potentially longer battery life. It also offers the company's latest privacy and security options.

Only one of the five display options has Lenovo's screen privacy feature, and battery life is predictably shorter with the UHD-resolution display.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a best-in-class ultraportable that combines premium design appeal with business-grade privacy and security features.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 (2019)

With a sturdy, lightweight carbon-fiber exterior, an excellent keyboard, and plenty of security and manageability features, Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 is the best laptop you can buy for your business.

Thin, light, and very sturdy. ThinkPad-typical comfortable keyboard. Long battery life, as configured with 1080p screen. Many screen options. Optional Intel vPro. Full-size HDMI output.

Small touchpad. Requires (not-included) Ethernet adapter.

Bottom Line: With a sturdy, lightweight carbon-fiber exterior, an excellent keyboard, and plenty of security and manageability features, Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 is the best laptop you can buy for your business.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen review: The 4K display is a splendid liability

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen is an otherwise stellar 14-inch business notebook PC, but with a battery that can't keep up with the rest this notebook has to offer.

Vibrant, detailed 4K screen ; Resilient, comfortable typing experience ; Unexpectedly good audio ; Lenovo Vantage utility software ; Lightweight and sturdy

Deficient battery life for a business laptop

I enjoyed using the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen. Performance is solid. Typing is as comfortable as ever. Nailing the audio was an unexpected joy. I'm unabashedly enthusiastic about the company’s Vantage software, and the bonus Glance utility.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2019 Privacy Guard Review: Business laptop with ePrivacy filter is not perfect

very good picture quality, even with active privacy filter;good system performance;quiet fan;very good speakers;comprehensive warranty;still very good keyboard...
