MSI GT72VR 6RD Dominator Pro Notebook Review

Faster performance, cooler temperatures. If size and weight aren't concerns, then the GT72VR is your best bet with GTX 1060 graphics. Surface temperatures and fan noise are both low for a gaming notebook.

decent surface and core temperatures when gaming ; comfortable and quiet SteelSeries backlit keyboard ; easy serviceability; upgradeable GPU ; relatively quiet fans when gaming ; strong chassis

no graphics switching, Thunderbolt 3, or NVMe ; major backlight bleeding on our test unit ; relatively short battery life ; no dedicated Macro keys ; fans always active

The GT72 chassis may be aging, but its hardware and versatility shouldn't be overlooked. Its cooling system can handle GPUs far more power-hungry than the GTX 1060, so the GT72VR 6RD runs cooler and quieter than other gaming systems with the same...

MSI GT72VR 6RE-015US Notebook Review

Pascal power. The GT72S has been renewed as the GT72VR in time for Nvidia's all-powerful mobile Pascal series. While some new features have been added, a few have also been removed to make room for the higher-end GT73VR.

very fast graphics performance from Pascal ; good sound quality; dedicated subwoofer ; updated Dragon system utility software ; 120 Hz and 5 ms response time option ; relatively cool operating temperatures ; upgradeable GPU (MXM 3.0 slot) ; strong...

3x M.2 slots removed; no more NVMe support ; no desktop-class Skylake CPU options ; slight-moderate backlight bleeding ; manual graphics switch removed ; no individually backlit keys ; Thunderbolt 3 removed ; thick design; bulky ; fans always active

The star of the show here in the GTX 1070 Pascal GPU. The mobile Maxwell series only scratched the surface of 4K gaming despite the fact that many manufacturers were pushing 4K onto gaming notebooks that clearly couldn't handle most titles on such high...

Very disappointing Gaming Laptop!

You cannot play games properly on this Gaming Laptop as it crashes to the desktop within 20-30 seconds of playing a game/benchmark. It has serious thermal issues as it rises easily over 70c after approx 15 seconds of gaming and throttles the GTX1070...

A mixed bag... A Powerful GPU handicapped by a bad hard drive

This laptop has a lot of great features but has been crippled by a poor choice of hard drive. Let's start with the positives. It has a great screen - it's a 75 Hz screen with G-Sync to prevent tearing. Colours are amazing and viewing angles are good....
