MSI PE60 Prestige Review: Business in Front, Party in the Back

If you're looking for an affordable gaming notebook that still looks professional enough for a business or classroom environment then MSI might just have what you're looking for with the PE60.

Excellent display ; Good graphics performance ; Attractive backlit keyboard ; Affordable gaming laptop for students

Thin chassis materials ; Weighs more than 5 lbs. ; Mediocre battery life ; Not really a “workstation”

MSI PE60 6QE Prestige iBuyPower Edition Notebook Review

Part multimedia, gaming, and business. The PE60 6QE is a small update over last year's PE60 2QE based on the GE62 chassis. Unfortunately, MSI will have to do more to distinguish its Prestige series from the rest of its gaming lineup.

excellent performance; no throttling under loads, almost no uneven backlight bleeding, comfortable keyboard and touchpad, quad speakers + subwoofer, relatively easy serviceability, complete sRGB coverage, USB 3.1 Type-C Gen. 2

poorly calibrated display out-of-the-box, display lid could be more rigid, almost no business features, system fans always active, no NVMe SSD options, dim display backlight, average contrast, short battery life

At its core, the MSI PE60 Prestige is a GE62 with a new coat of paint and a different name targeted at business and multimedia users. This essentially makes the PE60 a gaming notebook in disguise which, for business users, isn't the best news. Other...

Great laptop all around

This should be 5/5 all the way. People are nitpicking over the silliest of thing and docking eggs for it. Grow up guys. This is a great laptop for the price and time of release and I would still recommend it today. MSI has a black model, all the same,...

I7 6700, ddr4, dedicated fan button and color gamut button, runs fast even without an ssd. Works great as a desktop replacement or light, mobile destop.

Could come with an ssd? Though when it was being engineered the regular HD was the way to go, can't complain.

Awesome product for a fantastic price

In conclusion, I would absolutely recommend it to people for the price I paid. I don't think it's worth $1,000 USD, but for $789USD? Definitely, I'd be surprised if you could find anything nearly as good for that price.

-I got this as a shell-shocker for $789USD and it was very worth it. I live in Canada, but am a 55 minute drive away from the US border, so it was definitely worth the trip to pick up, as there's nothing comparable here, unless you want to spend an...

-The space-bar could be better. Sometimes I don't actually press it -I prefer the windows key on the left side of the keyboard -Webcam is not very good, but I did purchase it with that knowledge, as I'll never really use it -Battery life is not...

MSI PE60 6QE-031US

I just don't know how to use SHIFT mode, I have been looking how to use it, but it doesn't show anything on the screen when I press fn+F7, I don't know. But, over all, everything is going as well as I want.

This is amazing, just what I wanted. Very fast shipping, I liked it, I tested it today, and it's as fast as it says. The screen is the best part of all. Going inside, it has a powerful graphic card, and you are able to use it up to 2.6 GHz

Absolutely none.

problems for me

I would not recommend it based on problems that i had. Maybe it was an isolated problem - but why risk it. There are plenty of laptops with similar specs for comparable price.

-battery does not fully charge

battery stuck at 94% and says" plugged in but does not charge" some win 10 updates could not be installed and computer says " restart and install" but all win 10 update can not go through. Harder to update all of the components - could not use MSI live...

I like it alot, but has a few drawbacks.

Id like to give it a solid 4/5 eggs but i cant as some things annoy me about it. So i gotta give a 3/5, fixing these issues would be fantastic and it would be 4/5 and worth the money spent, but i can see why some may have their own gripes about buying...

-Has USB type-C (depending on the model) -The turbo boost fan is SUPER cool and strong. When you click the button to turn it on, it is a bit loud..... but its ok because i appreciate quick cooling and such strong fans, it has two of them. Theyre so...

-Very sluggish on smaller tasks at times (not always) or opening up programs (you may have to upgrade to SSD to see better results i guess), very annoying when it doesnt even open up the app, its one thing to wait but i find myself clicking a couple...

Great laptop for the price

I should start by saying that I'm a motion graphic artist, and I bought my MSI PE60 for doing 3D animation, editing and effects when I'm traveling or out of the office. I didn't buy it for gaming and can't comment on it as a gaming notebook. But in...

-Fast 6th gen i7 -Beautiful non-glare 1080 display with good color controls -DDR4 memory - Nvidia GTX 960M -Stays cool even with the i7 and GeForce -1 TB storage -Backlit keyboard -Aluminum body (though the top cover is not actually aluminum) -Long...

-Very poor battery life -Hard to upgrade -Cheap touchpad –I use my Logitech wireless mouse whenever possible

Get a different laptop

If you make a living off your computer, get something more reliable. I lost so much money just troubleshooting issues with this computer. MSI really needs to conduct more thorough testing in Quality Control.

This laptop seems like a great deal for the great specs outlined. MSI makes great motherboards and generally I like their items.

-1st computers motherboard went faulty after 2 months -Replacement just came in and now it has a battery issue I can't even troubleshoot because warranty sticker is over the last screw. You need to open the bottom of the computer up. Battery is NOT...
