A promising ultraportable from MSI that is good in some areas and flawed in some others, but its price and performance might make you want to reconsider it.

MSI PS42 (8RB)

 

An ultraportable from gaming-PC maker MSI, the PS42 offers mid-level graphics performance in a very slim package, but it suffers from a stodgy design and a tiny touchpad.

Excellent screen quality. Robust port selection. Thin and light. SD card slot. Comfortable keyboard. Decent gaming performance.

Awkward webcam placement. Ho-hum design. Tiny touchpad. Poor audio quality.

Bottom Line: An ultraportable from gaming-PC maker MSI, the PS42 offers mid-level graphics performance in a very slim package, but it suffers from a stodgy design and a tiny touchpad.
