Razer Blade Pro (2017) review

The Razer Blade Pro isn't just any gaming laptop. It's the gaming laptop to beat.

Robust build quality ; Gorgeous display ; Excellent mechanical keyboard ; Unparalleled gaming performance

Runs hot and loud ; Poor battery life

Laptop gaming is all about caveats. Big machines aren’t as portable, portable machines aren’t as powerful. Do you go with a quiet laptop that runs hot? Or a loud laptop that runs cool?

Razer's big-screen Blade Pro gets a cheaper option

The 17-inch gaming laptop now has a more-reasonable version with an Nvidia 1060 GPU and HD screen.

New Razer Blade Pro (2017)

The New Blade Pro is a modest improvement on the previous iteration, with a THX-certified panel and audio alongside a slightly faster unlocked Core i7 processor.

Premium build quality. Beautiful 4K touch display with strong color spectrum coverage. High-end gaming performance.

Loud fans. Audiovisual differences from non-THX version are minor for most users. Short battery life.

The New Blade Pro delivers audio, visual, and performance improvements over the previous version, and makes a generally excellent laptop even better for about the same price. It's not a huge upgrade, but it does refresh one of the best 17-inch options...

Razer Blade Pro is the first laptop to get the THX stamp of approval

This super-thin 17-inch gaming PC also gets a new CPU and faster RAM.

Razer Blade Pro 2017 (i7-7820HK, GTX 1080, 4K) Laptop Review

Slim at any cost. Razer's Blade Pro is one of the most powerful and yet slimmest gaming laptops in the world. It was to be expected that this combination would lead to high temperatures and loud background noise. Just how bad is it? Our review reveals...

mechanical keyboard with RGB backlighting ; optional CPU overclocking ; clean manufacturing ; very good color space coverage ; powerful hardware ; large touchpad ; slim build ; attractive design ; thin power supply ; Thunderbolt 3 ; classy case ; 32 GB...

irregular lighting along lower rim of display ; parts of palm rest heat to uncomfortable temperatures ; GTX 1080 weaker than in other laptops ; Razer Synapse makes registration compulsory ; very loud in 3D mode ; reflective display surface ; laptop...

If we set aside the emissions, speakers and battery life for just a moment, the Razer Blade Pro is a very well-designed high-end notebook. With its slim build, high-quality materials and classy design, it should catch the fancy of gamers who value...

Razer Blade Pro (2017, GTX 1060) Review and Ratings

Razer cuts the price of its 17.3-inch flagship gaming laptop roughly in half while keeping much of its appeal. But this GeForce GTX 1060 machine is priced perilously close to other brands' GTX 1070 models.

Sharp-looking 120Hz screen ; Solid build quality ; Quiet, effective cooling ; Excellent per-key RGB backlit keyboard ; Long battery life

Pricey for GTX 1060-level performance ; No dedicated gaming macro keys ; Lacks built-in biometric features

The 1080p edition of the Razer Blade Pro delivers most of the characteristics we like about the 4K version at a more digestible price point. At $1,999 for the only available configuration as we wrote this (on sale from $2,299), the 1080p model is...

Razer Blade Pro (2017, GTX 1080) Review and Ratings

Razer's redesigned 17-incher muscles into the lineup of today's top big gaming laptops, packing extreme performance in a solid, slim shell, decked out with a 4K G-Sync panel and an RGB-backlit mechanical keyboard.

Stunning 4K touch display with Nvidia G-Sync ; Remarkably powerful and impressively slim ; Superb-feeling mechanical keyboard, touch pad ; Dedicated volume dial ; Slim power adapter

Fans get loud while gaming ; No number pad due to touch-pad placement ; No built-in biometrics ; Lacks overclocking features

The Razer Blade Pro is no longer the midrange performer it was at its debut several years ago—far from it.
