Lenovo Y70 Touch review

A massive gaming laptop for a great price – what's the catch?

Slick design ; Decent graphics power ; Surprisingly good speakers ; Attractive price

Short battery life ; Poor keyboard design ; Too few ports for size ; Desk space hog

If you can look past its large size and puzzling design flaws, here's a gaming notebook with a unique design and capable hardware for a reasonable price.

Lenovo Y70 Touch

The Lenovo Y70 Touch is an entry-level gaming laptop with a solid mix of performance and battery life and a rare, but welcome, 17-inch touch screen.

Large 17-inch touch display. JBL speakers and subwoofer provide good sound. Comfortable keyboard. Solid performance in gaming and productivity alike.

Keyboard could be spread out a bit more. Battery life falls a bit short.

Conclusion The entry-level gaming category is a bit crowded, but Lenovo has delivered a solid system at a reasonable price. The overall performance isn't mind-blowing, but it will support current-generation games with decent resolution and frame rates....

Lenovo Y70 Notebook Review

Touchscreen gamer. Lenovo launches the biggest IPS touchscreen Y Series model yet with the 17.3-inch Y70. Features remain largely unchanged from the Y50, including the GTX 860M GPU. For $1399, can this sleek black and red powerhouse hold its own...

Attractive brushed aluminum and rubberized matte surfaces, Very good CPU and GPU performance, No GPU throttling, Bright and large IPS touchscreen, Great contrast with accurate colors, Good sound from stereo speakers and subwoofer, Upgradeable RAM and...

Reduced CPU and GPU performance on battery power, CPU Turbo Boost is short-lived, Limited number of ports, No GPU options outside of the GTX 860M, Surfaces are difficult-to-clean fingerprint magnets, Creaking on the rear of the unit, Slow system...

The Lenovo Y70 Touch addresses the major issue we found on the standard Y50. The underwhelming matte TN panel on the smaller model is now a bright edge-to-edge glass IPS panel with outstanding color reproduction and contrast, especially for a...

Addendum

Another thing that I hate is the fact that, unlike other laptops, this one does not have the '/' key on the numeric keypad on the right hand side.

Good But Not Perfect

I bought this as I needed a fast and powerful desktop replacement for when away from my main machine (although I'm not a gamer, I need fast response times and the ability to have several windows open simultaneously). I have yet to test this aspect.It...

???????????????

The key board does not feel good and the red keys are difficult to see. The mouse pad feels horrible. The screen is wobbly, and the high gloss means you cannot see the screen for reflections. A very poor buy

Build quality screen clarety sound system

Could do with the edges more rounded as they tend to catch on things and the speakers grills on the end a bit flimsy

Lenovo Y70 Touch

The screen size is great and the touchscreen functions amazingly well.

It's very heavy and so isn't very mobile for a laptop.
