Samsung Aura R70 Santa Rosa - Exclusive Preview

With Intel launching its Santa Rosa platform today, Riyad gets to grips with Samsung's latest laptop.

The new CPU is backed up by the latest incarnation of Intel's 965 Express chipset which now supports an 800MHz front side bus ? this means that the T7300 CPU in this R70 only requires a 10x multiplier to reach its 2GHz core frequency rather than the...

Samsung Q70 notebook

Samsung may not be the first name you think of when considering a notebook but in the last 12 months, the company has released a surprising number of machines. The Q70 is a stylish and powerful notebook aimed at those who need portability and power....

Powerful, well-built, good battery life

The screen is flat and washed-out

The Samsung Q70 is a good all-round notebook that will suit the daily traveller. While the screen isn’t as bright as we’d have liked, the battery life and keyboard make this a great notebook for using on the daily commute or in the University library....

Samsung R70 laptop

Samsung may be better known for its mobile phones but it's had a wide range of notebooks for the best part of 5 years now and with the latest design refresh, the company has opted for a high-gloss finish that looks impressive and certainly feels cool...

Powerful, great spec for price

Easily scratched

We may have started this review with a negative outlook on the Samsung R70 but it’s the only complaint on a machine that more than delivers on power and is certainly worth the asking price.

Samsung R70 review

The chassis may not be a new design, but it's attractive and feels well made.

Although we've seen Samsung's R70 before, we really wanted to compare this updated model against the competition. This may not be the fastest laptop in 2D or 3D applications, but its keyboard, large hard disk and long battery life make it an award winner.

Samsung - R70

Samsung's marketing blurb for the R-series says that it is inspired by technology (well, we'd certainly hope so), is user-friendly and ideal for the whole family. The latest member of the clan, the R70, holds up ...

Another winner from Samsung: this laptop has a great blend of features, performance and price. The inclusion of an HDMI port is a real plus point in its favour. Samsung's R70 may carry a budget price tag, but it's very well built and packed with features.

Samsung Q70

Packed with the latest Intel Centrino technology is just a slight benefit.

Samsung have tried to specialize in technology rather than looks and style. Along with the Intel T7300 Processor which runs at a good 2GHz, along with 2GB of RAM, you also get a 13.3” screen and a 160GB hard drive

Samsung have branded this is being ultra portable; well I’m sorry Samsung because this is quite a large and heavy laptop. It weights in at 2kg if the large battery is attached

Overall this laptop has gone less for style and more for technology. It’s packed with all sorts to help most people through their day. It is slightly on the heavy side and is one of the less desirable ultra portable laptops, yet for this amount of...
